Two Red Knights will take the world stage in 2026, as Kelly Pannek ’14 and Iris Pflum ’21 have been selected to represent Team USA at the 2026 Winter Olympic Games in Milan. Competing in two very different sports, both athletes embody the dedication, resilience, and competitive spirit fostered at BSM.

For Kelly Pannek, Milan will mark her third Olympic appearance for Team USA Women’s Hockey. A veteran on the international stage, Pannek previously helped Team USA earn a gold medal at the 2018 Winter Olympics in PyeongChang and a silver medal at the 2022 Games in Beijing. Known for her skill, leadership, and relentless work ethic, Pannek has been a cornerstone of the U.S. women’s hockey program.

Since graduating from BSM in 2014, Pannek has built an impressive hockey résumé, competing at the collegiate, professional, and international levels. Her return to the Olympic roster is a testament to her talent, consistency, and long-term commitment to excellence over the course of her career. As she prepares for another Olympic run, Pannek continues to serve as an inspiration to young athletes who dream of competing at the highest level.

Joining her in Milan will be Iris Pflum ’21, who has been selected for Team USA Snowboarding in Parallel Giant Slalom. The 2026 Games will mark Pflum’s first Olympic appearance, a major milestone in a rapidly rising career. Parallel Giant Slalom is a demanding event that combines speed, precision, and head-to-head racing, and Pflum has quickly established herself as a formidable competitor on the national and international circuit.

Since graduating from BSM in 2021, Pflum has dedicated herself to training and competition, steadily climbing the ranks in U.S. snowboarding. Her Olympic selection reflects years of focus and perseverance, along with a willingness to embrace the challenges that come with competing in a high-risk, high-reward sport. For Pflum, Milan represents both the culmination of a lifelong goal and the beginning of a new chapter on the world stage.

Together, Pannek and Pflum showcase the breadth of talent within the BSM alumni community. From the ice rink to the slopes, their journeys to the 2026 Winter Olympics showcase what is possible when passion meets preparation. The entire BSM community will be cheering them on as they represent Team USA and compete among the world’s best in Milan.
