The Benilde-St. Margaret's mixed voice a capella choir, Red Knotes, will be performing in the A Capella Live event at the Parkway Theater in Minneapolis on Sunday, April 13 at 2 p.m. This exciting event offers a unique opportunity to experience the Red Knotes alongside other popular Twin Cities choral groups, Mixed Company and the Minneapolis Commodores Xtreme.

"We have put in a tremendous amount of hard work into preparing for this performance," said Elizabeth Cornell '27. "Our songs are pretty difficult, so it's important for us to all be in sync and make sure all the little details are correct. Everyone has to listen to the people around them for the parts to blend together."
This performance offers an opportunity not just to entertain, but to inspire others to find their passion in music, just as the Red Knotes have done. They will perform five songs at the concert, including 3 student-selected pop songs and two new songs never before presented by the Red Knotes, Psalm 150 by Ernani Aguiar and Intro (It's You) by Krishan Oberoi.
"I'm most excited to show off all the hard work we have put in this year and get to share it with a community that loves music. I'm glad we get to represent BSM and encourage more people to join the music path," said Madeline Kirkvold '28. "It's an honor that we were invited to sing in such a cool venue with these other amazing acts."
The Red Knotes have dedicated countless hours to perfecting their performance, including an intensive choreography workshop held in February with Dr. Therees Hibbard, the director of the Manitou Singers and St. Olaf Chamber Singers. This session provided invaluable insights to help the choir elevate their stage presence and vocal precision.
"We are always excited to perform outside of our school community," said Miriam Augsburger, Red Knotes director and BSM choir teacher. "I think audience members who don't know about BSM will be impressed by our students' abilities!"
Augsburger encourages the student artists to see music as a lifelong skill, and this public performance as an opportunity to perform alongside adults who have various careers, but still love and express themselves through music. "We are making great music here at BSM, and by performing next to Mixed Company and Commodores Xtreme, we are able to show others what BSM can do, and also learn from adults who have been singing together for a long time."
Tickets to this event can be purchased online in advance or at the door. Don't miss this chance to see our Red Knotes put on the performance of a lifetime!
