Congratulations to our Red Knight swimmers who qualified for the 2023 Minnesota High School League (MSHSL) Boys’ Swimming & Diving State Tournament!
The boys’ swim and dive team made a splash at the Section 2A meet February 23-25 with 10 BSM student athletes qualifying for State in their respective events:
- Boys Medley Relay - 4th Place
- 200 IM - Charles Shideman ‘23 (8th)
- 50 Free - Lucas Wurst ‘25 (5th)
- 100 Free (49.95) - Lucas Wurst ‘25
- (4th) 500 Freestyle - Charles Shideman ‘23 (4th), Mason Rokala ‘25 (5th)
- 200 Free relay - 3rd Place
- 100 Breaststroke - Joey Sandhoefner ‘25 (5th)
- 400 Free Relay - 3rd Place
The three relay teams (200 medley, 200 and 400 yard freestyle) made up of the following swimmers, will compete at State:
- Sam Haddad ‘23
- Lucas Haenel ‘24
- Mason Rokala ‘25
- Joey Sandhoefner ‘25
- Charlie Shideman ‘23
- Mitchell Thueringer ‘23
- Lucas Wurst ‘25

The 2023 MSHSL Boys’ Swim & Dive State Tournament will be held March 2-4 at the Jean K. Freeman Aquatic Center on the Minneapolis campus of the University of Minnesota. The two day event begins at noon with preliminaries Friday, March 3, and finals at noon on Saturday, March 4. Tickets and more information about the tournament can be found here.

Other winter season teams are also heading to the State Tournament this Friday, March 3, including BSM Wrestling and Mock Trial. The BSM community sent them off together with a parade through the school cheered on by classmates and faculty on Wednesday, March 1.
