The Benilde-St. Margaret's drama department is excited to present the senior high spring musical, Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Musical! This production will feature four performances on Thursday-Saturday, May 1-3 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, May 4 at 2 p.m. Purchase your tickets here.
Based on the bestselling book series by Jeff Kinney, this musical follows the adventures of Greg Heffley, an awkward but lovable middle schooler with big dreams and even bigger mishaps. While struggling to keep himself out of trouble, he records his hilarious middle school experiences in a diary
— one that he hopes no one ever reads.
What makes this production even more special is its deep connection to BSM's own community. The music was co-written by BSM alum Michael Mahler '00. Jake Mahler '03, BSM math teacher and drama department director is bringing both professional theater experience and family pride to the BSM stage.
"This show is so much fun!" said Jake Mahler '00. "You'll see people shining in ways you never expected. Their songs are catchy, the choreography slays, and the story is touching and timeless."
The hard work put in by students is evident in every aspect of the production, from the intricate choreography and lively ensemble scenes to the detailed set design and laugh-out-loud moments. With a talented student cast and crew, Diary of a Wimpy Kid The Musical promises a high-energy, heartwarming experience for audiences of all ages. Ash Lynch '25, starring as Greg Heffley, said, "I'm really excited for the show. We've worked so hard on it for a very long time. I'd love to see a lot of people in the audience!"
Whether you're a fan of musical theater or just looking for a fun night out, don't miss the upcoming performances! BSM students, staff and faculty receive free admission. Purchase your tickets here.
