Red Knights Have a Swing at State

Let’s give a Red Knight round of applause to Olivia Gorton ‘24 and Annika Olson ‘25 as they head to the 2023 Minnesota High School League (MSHSL) Girls Tennis State Tournament. The doubles pair wrapped up their regular season in the Section 6AA finals on Monday, Oct. 9, finishing 4-1 against Edina and clinching their ticket to State.

For Olson, this achievement holds an extra layer of significance as it marks her second appearance at the State tournament. She first qualified in 2021, earning the All-Conference award in both 2021 and 2022. On the other half of the court, Gorton capped off the previous season with an All-Conference award and the Sportsmanship Award.

“Annika and Olivia have embodied what it means to be a Red Knight at every point of this season, ” said coach Andrew Argeros. “On the court, they push themselves and their teammates to work hard and better their games while leading our program off the court as two of our captains. They have won crucial matches for us at every step of the season, and I am so proud to see their hard work pay off with a trip to the State Tournament!”

The 2023 MSHSL Girls Tennis State Tournament is scheduled to take place October 24-27. Gorton and Olson will compete in the doubles tournament beginning at 10 a.m. on Thursday, October 26 at Baseline Tennis Center in Minneapolis, MN. More information and tickets can be found on the MSHSL girls tennis tournament website.

Good luck, Red Knights! We are #BSMProud.

Update: Friday, Oct. 27

Gorton and Olson fell to Elk River in a very tight match 7-5 / 7-6 (5).
