The BSM girls’ softball team opens the Class 6AAA quarterfinal of the MSHSL State Tournament on Tuesday, June 3 in North Mankato, MN. As the number seven seed, they will play the number two seed, Chisago Lakes at 7 p.m. at Caswell Park.
The BSM girls' softball team achieved a 12-12 record during the season, en route to the 2025 MSHSL State Tournament.
The team captured the Section 6AAA title on May 29 when they defeated DeLaSalle 5-2 in the Class 6AAA championship game.
“This team is special, and are truly a family,” said Lindsay Spanton, girls’ softball head coach. “This team doesn't quit. They will fight every inning of the game. They have comeback from an 8-2 deficit to win a game. Everybody in the lineup contributes and a new person steps up every game.”
Spanton also describes the team as fun, playing at their best when they are loose. “Whether that's dancing during pregame warmups or cracking jokes in the dugout, they never get down on themselves. They have learned how to win and are peaking at just the right time!” Spanton said.
The team has played competitively through a very challenging schedule, bonding well this year thanks to the supportive and instructive coaching.
The strong play in the section tournament helped build confidence for the team which enjoys a fun and fast approach to the game.
This is the seventh time the Red Knights have reached the state tournament.
