The Class of 2022 received their diplomas on Friday, June 3, during Benilde-St. Margaret’s 48th commencement exercises held at the McQuinn Athletic Complex on the BSM campus. Dr. Adam Ehrmantraut, BSM president, welcomed families and friends to the event, "We get to celebrate this important milestone in the lives of the graduates. To get to this point, every one of them has had to rely on their faith and many of you here gathered tonight.” He added, “I want to express my gratitude to all of those who have helped raise these young men and women to become the people they are today.”
In his opening prayer, Campus Minister Mike Jeremiah offered gratitude to God for the work and achievements of the graduating class, noting, “We know in our hearts that the future will be better because of the Class of 2022 and the good work you began in them will continue to its completion. May all that they do lead to Your Kingdom.”
The Class of 2022's Valedictorians, Lauren Alinder, Nicole Doering, Cate Duffey, Ryan Long, Teddy Madden, Charlie Parece, and Sarah Portz were introduced by Senior High Principal Stephanie Nitchals, who noted each Valedictorian maintained a 4.0 GPA after completing seven semesters of course work. This year's Salutatorians, Elena Latterell, Ava Montpetit, and Patrick Mullin, were also recognized for maintaining the second highest grade point average after seven semesters of course work.
BSM also recognized the academic achievements of 56 students who achieved Summa Cum Laude (3.90-4.00 GPA), 23 students who attained Magna Cum Laude (3.80-3.89), and 28 students who earned Cum Laude (3.70-3.79) honors.
Seniors Emily Zagaros and Patrick Mullin were selected to present this year's commencement addresses. Emily shared her observation that like playing the popular word game, Wordle, each member of the Class of 2022 reached graduation in their own unique way with different experiences and challenges, focused on moving forward and improving for tomorrow. Patrick reflected on this year's scripture theme (Luke 12:34) and how the treasure of the relationships created among the Class of 2022 - as classmates, peers, teammates, friends, and family - is a gift from God as a sign of His love.
The conferral of diplomas was led by Principal Nitchals and Senior High Assistant Principal Cami Dahlstrom.
The administration, faculty, and staff of Benilde-St. Margaret’s congratulates the 236 members of the Class of 2022 and wishes them God’s blessing and every good thing in the future.
