BSM boys’ football is headed to the Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Class AAAA Football State Tournament after their hard-fought win against Academy of Holy Angels with a final score of 20-15 on Friday, Nov. 3. This will be the Red Knights’ third trip to the State Tournament, having won the state championship in 2016.
Throughout the season, the Red Knights demonstrated unwavering determination, and remarkable teamwork, successfully overcoming numerous challenges along the way.
Coach Sean McMenomy expressed his pride in the team, sharing, “I am so proud of the guys for believing in one another and trusting the process. The seniors have been amazing leaders and have kept the team focused on getting better every rep, every play, and every game so that we are playing our best football in the playoffs.”
The 2023 MSHSL Football State Tournament is scheduled to have three rounds of playoffs: November 9-11, November 16-18, and November 24-25. BSM football is set to compete in the Class AAAA quarterfinals against North Branch Area at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 9 at Monticello High School.
This victory marks a significant achievement for the Red Knights. “This team has embodied what it is like to be a family,” McMenomy said. “From seventh through twelfth grade, our players look after each other, trust one another, and have fun playing football together.”

BSM was defeated by North Branch Area 27-38, in the state quarterfinals.
