Catholic Schools Week 2024 will be celebrated from Sunday, Jan. 28 through Saturday, Feb. 3 this year. In honor of this annual celebration of the mission and work of Catholic Schools, BSM's president, Danielle Hermanny '03 shares this message with our community:

Dear BSM families and friends,

Happy Catholic Schools Week! This week is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States, and is an opportunity for all Catholic schools to celebrate the shared identity that makes us special. At Benilde-St. Margaret’s, we live out the values and traditions of our Catholic faith every day through the unique charisms that animate our community from our founding orders: the Sisters of St. Joseph, the Christian Brothers, and the Benedictines.

The history of BSM is a shining example in the Upper Midwest of the transformative influence of Catholic education in the lives of young people. From the earliest days of St. Margaret’s Academy through the formation of Benilde High School, and their merger 50 years ago, our predecessors believed in providing students with opportunities to grow into men and women of great character in a Catholic environment. Today, we champion that same vision and goal.

As inheritors of their legacy, we have been blessed with the responsibility to provide our students with the knowledge, faith, and experiences that will guide them throughout their lives. We recognize the gift of Catholic education and the way that a learning community such as BSM provides unique opportunities for our students to be formed in faith. This year’s scripture theme reminds us that God has a plan for each of us as we learn, pray, and live each day.

It is fitting during Catholic Schools Week of this 50th anniversary year at BSM to meditate on these words of our scripture theme (Jeremiah 29:11-14) and how a Catholic education at BSM is helping our students seek and find God in their own lives. I am inspired by the passion and energy of our students as they pursue their education at BSM and grateful for our families who have made the choice to invest in their child’s future by choosing our community for their education.

I invite you to join me in offering a prayer during Catholic Schools Week: for the wisdom and vision of BSM’s founders; for the faculty, staff, and administration who provide the best Catholic education for our students every day, for our alums throughout the world whose lives are shining examples of the power of Catholic education, and for all Catholic schools throughout the United States: that they continue to thrive and grow as they share the Good News with thousands of students.

May God continue to richly bless our BSM community and each of you, so that together we can continue to provide a premier Catholic education to everyone who seeks it for their family.

Sincerely,

Danielle Hermanny ‘03
BSM President
