Benilde-St. Margaret’s will host the annual Twin Cities A Cappella Festival on Saturday, Jan. 28. The festival will feature 12 a capella groups, over 200 singers, and two concerts at 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. in a celebration of contemporary a cappella choral music.
"Students from different schools often only come together in a competitive environment," said Ryan Werdon, BSM choir teacher. “Our festival provides a unique place for groups from across the region to join together, encourage each other, and best of all share some incredible music."
The festival will also offer student performers opportunities for networking and feedback from accomplished professionals including Jordan Roll, vocal clinician, and Elise Shroeder, movement clinician.
Benilde-St. Margaret’s is one of a select number of schools in the
Twin Cities to have contemporary a cappella choral groups for students. This will be the fourth time BSM is hosting the annual a cappella festival for high school students.
The Participant Showcase Concert at 4 p.m. will feature the BSM MidKnights, River Falls Unstrumental PREP, River Falls Unstrumental SATB, G.E.T. Out of the Blue, Dover-Eyota Minor Details, Clinton Cyc-Out, Arcadia Accidentals, and U of M-Twin Cities’ 7DAYS A Cappella.
The Headliner Concert at 7 p.m. will feature the BSM Red Knotes, River Falls Unstrumental SSA, G.E.T. Vocal Point, Lakeville North Now & Then Singers, Lakeville South Encore, and UW-Madison’s Pitches & Notes (2022 National Champions).
