The Benilde-St. Margaret's community was saddened to learn of the passing of Sister Jeanne Marie Vanderlinde, OSB (1950-2023) on Friday, April 27, 2023. A devoted and well-loved colleague and member of the BSM faculty for 38 years, Sister Jeanne taught theology and history in both the junior and senior high. She left a lasting mark on the BSM community that stretches far beyond the walls of her classroom.
“As a Catholic school, Benilde-St. Margaret’s is proud of its long tradition of having clergy and members of religious orders among its faculty and staff,” said Meghan DesLauriers ’99, BSM president. “Sister Jeanne brought a spirit of compassion, a desire to learn, and laughter to her classrooms, making an impact on countless students and fellow teachers. She will be greatly missed.”
Benilde-St. Margaret’s offers its heartfelt condolences to the members of Sister Jeanne’s family and to her community at St. Benedict’s Monastery in St. Joseph, Minnesota. We invite the members of the BSM community to offer prayers on her behalf:
Eternal rest grant unto Sister Jeanne, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.
Our closing school Mass which will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 24 at 9:20 a.m., will be offered as a memorial Mass for Sister Jeanne.
