Congratulations to the BSM girls’ basketball team which qualified for the 2024 Minnesota State High School League (MSHSL) Girls Basketball Tournament by defeating Delano 83-64 in Section finals on Thursday, Mar. 7.
This is the third consecutive year the Red Knights have won the Section 6AAA championship and the first time the team won the Metro West Conference title in school history. The team now looks to join previous state-champion teams of 2006, 2010, and 2023.
“Winning the section championship in front of our home gym filled with Red was something I've envisioned since coming to BSM,” said Tim Ellefson, head coach. “What a great environment and display of school spirit. This was the cumulation of months of hard work from our team which resulted in this victory.”
The team set specific goals for this season and now looks to defend their 2023 state title. Ellefson noted, “What is left is the ultimate prize, the AAA State Championship. We know it is tough to defend our title, but our girls are focused and determined to play their best. Our best will be tough to beat and we look forward to a fun and competitive state tournament and hope to see everyone in the stands cheering on the Red Knights!”
