On Monday, October 30, twenty members of the BSM senior high choir participated in a choral festival at St. Michael-Albertville High School, singing with the Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble VOCES8.

The event included an afternoon rehearsal with members of VOCES8 who provided feedback on their singing. “The way they asked us to sing the ‘silences’ was a new and interesting idea,” said Nadia Ehlert ‘26.
That evening, the Red Knights joined VOCES8 and the festival choir of 600+ high school students from across the Twin Cities in performing two choral settings at St. Michael Catholic Church. The church was filled to capacity with nearly 1,000 people in attendance.
“The experience was very powerful and made me feel a strong sense of community,” said Elle Lindstrom ‘26. From start to finish, BSM’s choir students engaged in the opportunity to rehearse, make connections with other singers, explore innovative singing techniques, and learn from world-renowned professionals.
At the conclusion of the performance, the students had another opportunity to connect with the members of VOCES8. “We were honored and thrilled to be part of this special choral event for high school students,” said Miriam Augsburger, choir director, noting, “Hearing the amazing VOCES8 perform was truly incredible - being able to say we sang with them is something our students will remember for a long time!”
Touring globally, VOCES8 performs an extensive repertoire both a cappella and in collaboration with leading orchestras, conductors, and soloists around the world.
The BSM choirs are preparing for this year’s senior high choir concert which will be held in the BSM chapel beginning at 7 p.m., on Wednesday, Dec. 13. The Red Knotes a cappella group will also be caroling at locations around the Twin Cities in the weeks leading up to Christmas.
