Benilde-St. Margaret’s is excited to celebrate National Catholic Schools Week Jan. 27 - Feb. 1, 2025.

This annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States recognizes the importance and value of a Catholic education for the Church and the world. At BSM, a variety of events and experiences are planned for students, faculty and staff, and alumni throughout the week.

BSM is grateful to the parents and guardians who believe in the importance of a Catholic education for their children. We are honored to be your partners in this daily effort.

We ask God to bless and guide our administration, faculty, and staff as they work for the good of every student. We also ask God to watch over and bless our students, that their hearts and minds may be open to God's love, so that as ONE BSM, we may lead lives of faith and contribute in meaningful ways to our global society.

Check out the full schedule of activities on campus.

Our campus ministry team has assembled some things families can do to celebrate Catholic Schools Week.

Daily Prayers for Catholic Schools Week:

Consider offering these prayers each day to God on behalf of our entire BSM community.

Monday, Jan. 27: Celebrating Our Community

“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you – plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. When you call me and come and pray to me, I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, and I will change your lot.” Jeremiah 29:11-14

Loving God, we thank you for calling us into the community of Benilde-St. Margaret’s. You have called us to continue the mission, to continue the dream, to continue to build as those who came before us, those whose lives, work, and dreams have brought us to this day. We thank You for all that has been; and we ask Your blessing on all that will be, for the road ahead is yet unknown. Help us to be strong in the face of life’s many challenges, never accepting defeat or losing hope . . . knowing that we never journey alone.

Tuesday, Jan. 28: Celebrating Our Students

“Jesus said to his disciples: ‘You are the light of the world. A city set on a mountain cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and then put it under a bushel basket; it is set on a lampstand, where it gives light to all in the house. Just so, your light must shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your heavenly Father.’”        Matthew 5:14-16

Loving God, I come before you in prayer for our students who fill the halls and the classrooms of BSM. It’s so easy for them, and for me, to lose their way in a world with so many distractions, things that would occupy the places in their lives and in their hearts that are meant for You and for You alone. May they always remember that they are Your children, Your sons and daughters, created and loved and cared for more than they could ever begin to imagine. May they never fail to see the many gifts that they have and the amazing gift that they are to the world, forever letting their light shine.

Wednesday, Jan. 29: Celebrating the Nation

“All the ends of the earth will remember and turn to the Lord, and all the families of the nations will bow down before him, for dominion belongs to the Lord and he rules over the nations.”       Psalm 22:27-28

Loving God, I come to You in prayer for our world, especially for our nation. I look around and see so much anger and division. At times it seems that we have forgotten You . . . have forgotten that we are Your children, brothers and sisters, family. I pray that one day we may realize our common call to work together to unite instead of divide, to heal instead of hurt, to build instead of destroy, to love instead of hate. May we live in imitation of Your Son, never giving into those things that separate and divide, but instead living a life of kindness and compassion. May we never forget that we are “one nation under God.”

Thursday, Jan. 30: Celebrating Vocations

“At the sight of the crowds, his heart was moved with pity for them because they were troubled and abandoned, like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is abundant but the laborers are few, so ask the master of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest.’”       Matthew 9:36-38

Loving God, we are not unlike those people who first heard the message of the Savior. We, too, can be troubled and feel abandoned and lost and alone in a world that at times can seem dark and cold. We are in need of those who will lead and inspire and love and touch our hearts and lives, witnessing to Jesus’ abiding presence in the world. We pray for those who labor; we pray that more will answer the call of Your Son to serve and to give. In Jesus’ Name we pray.

Friday, Jan. 31: Celebrating Faculty, Staff, and Volunteers

“I give thanks to my God every time I think of you which is constantly in every prayer I utter. I pray with joy because of the way in which you have helped me in the work of the gospel from the very first day until now. I am sure of this, that the one who began the good work in you will continue through to its completion in the day of Christ Jesus.”      Philippians 1:3-6

Loving God, we give thanks for all those who have been called to this special ministry at Benilde-St. Margaret’s. Regardless of the role they play, may always know how much they are loved and appreciated, truly helping to make us all that we are. May they look to You for the guidance and direction they need, knowing that they truly serve as Your instruments, touching the lives and the hearts of young people and of all those they encounter. Bless them with your gifts of understanding, patience, love, forgiveness, mercy, peace of mind and of heart. Be with them, Lord, now and always.
