BSM Board of Directors Welcomes New Members

Benilde-St. Margaret’s School is pleased to name the Board of Directors for the 2022-2023 school year. Officers include Laura Portz (chair), Tom Lynch ‘85 (vice-chair), Dr. Adam Ehrmantraut (president), Patrick Kocourek ‘85 (treasurer), and John Vonhof ‘86 (secretary).

The board announces the appointments of two new directors, Kristen Hansberry and Phong Luong. 

BSM President Adam Ehrmantraut welcomed their joining the Board, "BSM is well-positioned for the future with the addition of Kristen and Phong to the Board. Both are very familiar with our community and bring excellent skills to our Board. I see them both helping guide the vision and strategic plan for BSM.” 

“Phong has been part of the BSM community since 2011 and having him on the Board will help the school immeasurably,” Dr. Ehrmantraut noted, adding, “Kristen, who has been involved with the Parent Association in a variety of roles since 2015, is also passionate about the mission and work of BSM. I feel their contributions will only strengthen the good work of our Board.”

Phong, a resident of Chanhassen, is a retired attorney whose practice encompassed a broad range of clients, from corporations and educational institutions to workers. Phong and his wife Jacqueline are parents of Red Knights Sarah ‘20 and Anna ‘17. Phong also coached the Red Knight volleyball team and has served on the boards of Super Hero Kids Foundation, Bridges to Learning, and Ability Building Community. The family attends Pax Christi Church.

Kristen, a resident of Minnetrista, is a family practice physician and medical director for Anthem, Inc. She served on the BSM Parent Association for the last five years on the Faith and Wellness and executive committees, and also as president. Kristen and her husband Mark are parents of Red Knights Sarah ‘18, Matthew ‘19, Charlie ‘21, and Chris ‘25. They attend St. Therese Church. 

BSM welcomes these new directors as four members depart their leadership roles: Sheila Folkestad, Fran McCloskey, Biz McShane Murphy '96, and Jim Vogl. BSM is extremely grateful for their many years of faithful service. 

“The work of our Board often goes unseen, behind the scenes of life at BSM,” Dr. Ehrmantraut said. “Sheila, Fran, Biz, and Jim are great examples of how dedicated individuals can help shape the vision of our school, providing the leadership and integrity so critical to the success of the programs and initiatives at BSM. We appreciate the time and effort they’ve given to our community.”

The new directors began their three-year terms on July 1, 2022.
