Benilde-St. Margaret’s is pleased to announce it will expand to welcome sixth grade students for the first time in school history. Beginning with the 2025-2026 school year, BSM will provide its holistic college-prep education to students in grades 6-12.
“The addition of a sixth grade at BSM reflects a growing desire by families in the Twin Cities for a Catholic education,” said Danielle Hermanny ‘03, BSM president. “After much prayer, careful review and consideration, BSM’s board of directors voted to approve this expansion, paving the way for more families to be welcomed into Catholic education at BSM. We look forward to welcoming our inaugural sixth grade class in August 2025.”
By expanding grade offerings to include sixth grade, BSM will provide students with the opportunity to experience its academically rigorous Catholic educational community for the entirety of middle and high school. “BSM currently serves families from 93 zip codes across the metro area. Our school community is appealing to families who want their students to learn and grow in a setting where they are inspired, nurtured, challenged, and part of a caring Catholic community in those formative middle school and high school years,” Hermanny said.
This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of Benilde-St. Margaret’s, a result of the merger between St. Margaret’s Academy and Benilde High School in 1974. “It is fitting for BSM to again evolve to meet the needs of families, as it has throughout its history,” Hermanny said, adding, “Our faculty and staff are committed to providing the best educational experience for students, and we’re excited to do the same for our inaugural class of sixth grade students in 2025-2026. We can’t wait to welcome them home to BSM.”
