The 2025 fall athletics and activities season at BSM has come to a close. Our community has witnessed incredible triumphs this year, inspiring all of us to put our best foot forward. The champion spirit lives on at BSM!

Boys' Soccer

The BSM boys' soccer team finished with a 13-3-2 record and won the Metro West Conference title, which was the first time the program has earned the conference championship in over ten years. It was something the players were proud of and worked toward all season.

Captain Aidan Laue ‘26 said that this was “the most close-knit team I have ever played on,” and shared how everyone supported each other, whether it was at practice, games, or just in everyday school life. The season ended in the Section Final against Blake, the number one ranked team in the state. While the loss was tough, it did not take away from everything the team achieved together. Three players earned All State recognition this year, which shows the level of work and effort the team put in day after day.

Head Coach Michael Charles shared how proud he was of the group, saying, “This team played with so much heart and trust in one another. Our captains led the way, and our new varsity players stepped up in big moments. It was a special group to coach and watch grow throughout the season.”

Girls' Soccer

The BSM girls’ soccer team had an amazing season. Making it all the way to the section final before losing to Blake by just one goal. This achievement was emotional and memorable after their intense semi-final victory over Southwest, which ended in a shoot-out that went 8 shooters deep in the semi-finals. Throughout the season, the team showed growth in multiple ways. With a mix of new additions and returning varsity players, the group learned from every challenge including some tough losses and continually to improve. The team made several changes to their warmup and lineups throughout the season to find the best fit for the team. Overall it was a great season to remember. The team grew closer and built stronger connections, learned lots and pushed themselves every day. They are all already looking forward to next season, ready to build on their progress and come back stronger than before.

Girls' Tennis

This fall season was one to remember for the tennis team, marked by growth, energy, and resilience. One of the standout moments of the season came during an intense matchup against Southwest, their biggest rival. Their excitement even drew a lighthearted comment from a parent on the opposing side, who told them they had “too much spirit,” a remark that only made the players prouder of the positive culture they had built. That victory over Southwest advanced the team to the section finals, where they faced a tough and talented Blake squad. Finishing second in team sections was especially rewarding given that the team welcomed a new coach midway through the season.

Head Coach Molly Breunig reflected, “When I think of this year’s team, I will forever remember them with great pride. Not only did they come together to advocate for themselves and a change in the BSM tennis culture, but they truly started to believe in themselves and each other as tennis players. I’m grateful to be a small part of such a memorable year.”

For individual sections, Audrey Wolff ‘27 and Mae Breunig ‘27 placed second, earning them a spot in the state tournament. Despite the transitions and challenges, the players came together stronger than ever, proving that passion, perseverance, and positivity can carry a team far both on and off the court.

Football

Head coach Brad Anderson fearlessly led the team this season, saying, "We focused on one game at a time, given that's all we get in the playoffs.” For the last game for the section finals, the Red Knights faced off against the Holy Angels Stars, winning 11-7. Their season ended with a devastating 7-54 loss to Grand Rapids in the quarter finals, but this season showed that Red Knights don’t see loss as a reason to stop, but rather as a reason to keep pushing forward.

Knight Errant

Knight Errant has written up a storm this year, earning multiple state-wide awards. They attended a journalism convention for students around Minnesota to come together and learn about different topics in journalism. At the convention, they received multiple awards for individual stories as well as an all-state gold, marking them as a top publication. The KEQ, a magazine published every year, is themed around AI this year. Editor-in-Chief Charlotte Feller ‘26 states, “We are very excited to show everyone what we have been working on this semester in our print magazine,” Editor-in-Chief Charlotte Feller said. “We have spent a lot of time researching and interviewing to write these pieces. We encourage everyone to check out our website as well, because we have a lot of great stuff published every day.”

Cross Country

The Benilde-St. The Margaret's boys' and girls' cross country teams have had an amazing season defined by dedication, hard work, and an uplifting environment. Every practice shows the runner’s drive and perseverance as they push their limits to succeed in every race. Their commitment and teamwork paid off as the boys team advanced to the section meet, a show of their determination and growth throughout the year. Team member Clare Hamill '28, who earned the prestigious title of Honorable mention in the conference, describes the team best as “A great atmosphere where we push each other to be better.” With strength in every stride, it’s clear this season has been defined by determination, unity, and Red Knight pride.

Cheerleading

This season has been a fun one for the cheer team. With 10 girls, this is the largest team they have had. Although the team is small, they continue to make an impact during the football season, keeping the fans engaged in the game. For the first time, the BSM Dance Team joined them on the sidelines. They worked together to keep spirits high throughout the games. The Cheer Team is working to move away from the basic routines and start to move towards more advanced techniques. Coach Addie said, “I want to keep the heart of what our seniors built: the teamwork, the family atmosphere.” The strong bond of this team is what makes it special. The team’s spirit and friendship makes it one to remember.
