Jason Adkins
Jason represents the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis on the BSM board of directors.
Jason is the executive director of the Minnesota Catholic Conference, the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in Minnesota. In this capacity, he works with the state’s bishops to shape public policy that protects human dignity and promotes the common good. Born in Detroit, Jason grew up in Minnesota and has a bachelor’s degree in economics and theology from the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul, where he also earned a master’s degree in Catholic studies.
He has a law degree from the University of Minnesota. He spent time in Rome as a journalist for the Zenit news agency and later worked as a teacher and law clerk to state and federal appellate judges. Jason writes a regular column that appears in diocesan newspapers, and his work has also appeared in numerous secular publications and journals.
Djuana J. Banks
Djuana J. Banks served on BSM’s Strategic Enrollment Committee for two years before joining the Board in 2021. She is involved in BSM’s Parent Association, parent affinity group, and is an avid supporter of BSM’s speech and mock trial teams.
A principal regulatory affairs specialist at Medtronic, Djuana graduated from Tuskegee University with a B.S. degree in Biology and has a master’s degree in Regulatory Affairs from San Diego State University.
Djuana previously served on the Board of Directors for Jack and Jill of America and is a past Minneapolis chapter President. She and her husband Shawn live in Brooklyn Park and have three children: Brandon ‘16, Breah ‘20, and Brian ‘23. They are members at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Lance Butner
Lance Butner is married to Mary, a BSM alum, Class of 1985, and a father to four BSM alumna and current students who all dance: Maddie '21, Lily '23, Casey '25, and Sadie '28.
As CEO of Consilium Wealth Group, Butner has been a financial planner since 1990. He has served on the BSM Advancement Committee since 2020 and has been an assistant coach for the BSM boys' golf team for five years.
Lance joined the Board in 2023.
Leslie Cadle
Leslie Cadle served on BSM’s Advancement Committee for five years before she joined the Board in 2021. A parent of two Red Knights, Jonathan ‘15 and Andrew ’18, she has organized many schoolwide volunteer efforts through her service as a Parent Association board member, BSM Parent Ambassador, Treasure Hunt category leader, and booster club member.
She is a Certified Financial Practitioner (CFP) and has been a private wealth adviser for more than 33 years. Leslie is an ‘86 graduate of the College of St. Benedict. She and her husband John are members of St. Hubert Catholic Community in Chanhassen where Leslie spent 10 years on the parish finance committee and also served as a parish trustee.
Kathleen Coyle '03
Kathleen Coyle is the vice president for premium sales at the Minnesota Vikings where she has worked for over 10 years. Prior to her current role, she worked with the San Francisco 49ers, New York Jets, and Cleveland Cavaliers.
Kathleen holds a B.A. in public & private sector organizations from Brown University. While at Brown, she was also a member of the women's soccer team. During her time at BSM, Kathleen was active in a variety of co-curriculars including student council, soccer, basketball, and track.
Most recently, Kathleen has served as a member of the strategic enrollment committee for BSM.
Lynette Crandall
Lynnette Crandall is a practicing attorney, lobbyist and real estate development and finance professional focusing on large-scale economic development initiatives and public-private partnerships. She has an undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa and earned her J.D. from William Mitchell College of Law (now Mitchell Hamline).
Lynnette and her husband, Shawn, have two sons, Slater ’24, a BSM alum, and Cooper ’27 a current BSM student.
She has served on the BSM Governance Committee since the fall of 2022. Lynnette has been active with Good Shepherd School in Golden Valley and St. Mary of the Lake parish in Plymouth.
Kristen Hansberry
Kristen Hansberry is a family practice physician who is currently a medical director for Anthem, Inc.
Kristen also serves as a volunteer physician at Mary's Place and has served on the BSM Parent Association in many different roles. She and her husband Mark have four children: Sarah '18, Matthew '19, Charlie '21, and Christopher '25.
Kristen joined the Board in 2022.
Danielle Hermanny '03
Danielle Hermanny is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame and institution’s law school. Prior to being appointed president of BSM in May 2023, Danielle worked at the University of Portland and the University of St. Thomas in a variety of roles.
Outside of BSM, Hermanny enjoys spending time with her husband Alex and their three children, Ellie (9), Thomas (7), and Madeleine (4).
While a student at BSM, Danielle was active in a variety of co-curriculars including the Red Knight Volunteer Corps (RKVC) and has spent time teaching kindergarten as part of the Jesuit Volunteer Corps in Montana. She also serves on the board of the Lasallian Educational and Research Initiatives, an organization that encourages service work by young people.
Jeff Hillins '90
Jeff Hillins is a proud alum from the BSM Class of 1990 and is a graduate of Boston College. He received his MBA from the University of Minnesota, Carlson School of Management. He has been serving for two years as an at-large strategy committee member for the BSM board of directors and continues to be an active community member as a parent and alum. He also holds a seat on the board at the Bakken Museum, serving as the current chair of its strategy committee.
Jeff has been a business and marketing leader at 3M for 25 years and currently is global business unit vice president for the industrial adhesives and tapes division.
He and his wife Dawn have three children: Lauren (’24), Brooke (’26) and Leah (’28). Hillins joined the board in 2024.
Shane Huether
Shane Huether is a Chartered Financial Analyst with CarVal Investors. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
He and his wife Kristine are the parents of BSM alum Elizabeth ’15 and Elliot ’23.
Shane joined the Board in 2019.
Kristin Smart, Parent Association President
Kristin Smart has been a part of the Parent Association since 2022 holding Faculty and Staff Recognition and VP roles. She is a graduate of UW Madison with an Economics degree. She currently works at Thrivent Financial in Organizational Effectiveness – Change Management. Her background includes property management, various HR roles, business management and project management.
She and her husband Jonathan live in Minneapolis and have two children: Kayla, a sophomore at WashU and Lauren, a junior at BSM.
As president of the BSM Parent Association, Kristin will serve on the BSM board of directors during the 2024-2025 school year.
Brother Michael Kadow, FSC
Brother Michael Kadow, FSC is a graduate of St. Mary’s University, Winona, MN and Loyola University of Chicago. He has been a De La Salle Christian Brother for over forty years, having served in middle and high schools in Wisconsin, North Dakota, and Illinois as a teacher and administrator. In particular, Br Michael served as executive director for the John XXIII Educational Center in Wisconsin and in leadership roles for the Midwest District of De La Salle Christian Brothers.
Br Michael has served on the BSM board of directors since 2023.
Patrick Kocourek '85, Treasurer
Patrick Kocourek, CPA (inactive), is the Treasurer of the Board and has served on the Board since 2021. He graduated from Providence College and is the CFO at Zeman Construction where he has worked for over 20 years.
He and his wife Teri have five children: Matthew ‘18, Anna ’20, Meggan ‘22, Erinn ‘24, and Gretta ‘28. The Kocourek family are members at St. Hubert’s in Chanhassen, where Pat currently chairs the Finance Committee. He also serves on the Board of the St. Paul Seminary.
Martha Long
Martha Long has been active in the BSM community since 2016, serving in a variety of roles with the BSM Parent Association, most recently as treasurer, and chairing PA events to support the school. Long has also been very active with the BSM girls’ and boys’ swim teams as Ryan ’22 and Elizabeth ’24 have swam competitively for BSM. Long and her husband Bill have two older daughters, Allison and Naomi who graduated from Wayzata High School.
Martha has served on the BSM board of directors since 2023.
Phong Luong, Secretary
Phong Luong recently retired as an attorney after practicing for over 27 years. His civil litigation practice encompassed a broad range of clients, from advising corporations and educational institutions to injured workers.
He and his wife Jacke’ are the parents of BSM graduates Sarah '20 and Anna '17. Phong also coached the Red Knight varsity volleyball team for eight years. He has served on the boards of SuperHero Kids Foundation, St. John the Baptist School, Bridges to Learning, and Ability Building Community. He joined BSM's Board in 2022.
Tom Lynch '85, Chair
Tom Lynch is general counsel and chief compliance officer for BillionToOne. He holds a juris doctorate degree from Boston College Law School, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of St. Thomas, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University. Tom and his wife Anastasia ’85 have four children: Sean ‘17, Frankie ’20, T.J. ’22, and Amelia '25.
Tom has served on the Board since 2018 and is chair of the Board's strategic planning committee.
Armando Mojica '86
Armando Mojica has remained active in life at BSM in a variety of ways, serving on the Strategic Planning Committee since 2021 and attending every BSM theater production since his children participated in productions while students. He and his wife Ria are parents of Luis ’19, Nadya ’20, and Bianca ’23.
Armando currently serves as Chief Operating Officer at EETech, a media, digital presence, and data-focused company. He and Ria also co-own Engineering for Kids Minneapolis, an organization providing STEM-based activities, camps, and programs.
Armando has served on the BSM board of directors since 2023.
Mark Sanderson
Mark Sanderson is the managing program director at Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, leading strategy and planning for the organization’s Environment and Disaster Relief & Recovery, Arts & Cultures and Legacy domains.
Mark and his wife Katy are the parents of Christian ’18 and Mia ’21.
Mark joined the Board in 2020 and chairs the Advancement Committee.
Charles Scott
Charles Scott is region sales director at Agiliti Health, LTD. He holds a degree from Tennessee State University. Charles and his wife Phillippa are the parents of two daughters; their youngest daughter is a BSM graduate, Shelby ’22.
He has served on the Board since 2019. Charles serves as the co-chair of the Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging Committee.
Sister Cathy Steffens, CSJ '62
Sister Cathy Steffens is a 1962 graduate of St. Margaret’s Academy and a member of the Sisters of St. Joseph community in St. Paul. Sr. Cathy previously taught in Catholic elementary schools in Minnesota and North Dakota and was assistant principal at Carondelet Catholic School in Minneapolis. She served for many years as co-director of campus ministry at St. Catherine University and was most recently on the province leadership team of the Sisters of St. Joseph.
Sr. Cathy has represented the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on the BSM Board since 2023.
