Board of Directors
Djuana J. Banks
Djuana J. Banks served on BSM’s Strategic Enrollment Committee for two years before joining the Board in 2021. She is involved in BSM’s Parent Association, parent affinity group, and is an avid supporter of BSM’s speech and mock trial teams.
A principal regulatory affairs specialist at Medtronic, Djuana graduated from Tuskegee University with a B.S. degree in Biology and has a master’s degree in Regulatory Affairs from San Diego State University.
Djuana previously served on the Board of Directors for Jack and Jill of America and is a past Minneapolis chapter President. She and her husband Shawn live in Brooklyn Park and have three children: Brandon ‘16, Breah ‘20, and Brian ‘23. They are members at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Leslie Cadle
Leslie Cadle served on BSM’s Advancement Committee for five years before she joined the Board in 2021. A parent of two Red Knights, Jonathan ‘15 and Andrew ’18, she has organized many schoolwide volunteer efforts through her service as a Parent Association board member, BSM Parent Ambassador, Treasure Hunt category leader, and booster club member.
She is a Certified Financial Practitioner (CFP) and has been a private wealth adviser for more than 33 years. Leslie is an ‘86 graduate of the College of St. Benedict. She and her husband John are members of St. Hubert Catholic Community in Chanhassen where Leslie spent 10 years on the parish finance committee and also served as a parish trustee.
Brother Chris Englert, FSC
Brother Chris Englert, FSC, graduated from La Salle High School in Cincinnati before entering the Brothers in 1973. He received his undergraduate degree from CBU in 1977, a Master of Arts from La Salle University in Philadelphia, and a Master of Arts in educational administration from the University of Missouri.
Over the course of his teaching career, Brother Chris taught at La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio; Newport Catholic High School, Kentucky; and Archbishop O’Hara High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Most recently he served as President of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tenn., from 1990 to December 2018.
He has also served on numerous boards and committees including CBU and Madonna Learning Center. Brother Chris serves as the Auxiliary Visitor for the Midwest District until June 30, 2023. He is also BSM’s Christian Brothers representative and has served on the board since 2019.
Maureen Grazzini '86
Maureen Grazzini has served on BSM’s Board since 2018. She earned her degree from the University of St. Thomas and is an instructor at Foss Swim School. She and her husband Greg have two children: Claire '18 and Adam '15.
Maureen previously served as Chair of the BSM Parent Association.
Kristen Hansberry
Kristen Hansberry is a family practice physician who is currently a medical director for Anthem, Inc.
Kristen also serves as a volunteer physician at Mary's Place and has served on the BSM Parent Association in many different roles. She and her husband Mark have four children: Sarah '18, Matthew '19, Charlie '21, and Christopher '25.
Kristen joined the Board in 2022.
Shane Huether
Shane Huether is a Chartered Financial Analyst with CarVal Investors. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison.
He and his wife Kristine are the parents of BSM alum Elizabeth ’15 and Elliot ’23.
Shane joined the Board in 2019.
Patrick Kocourek '85, Treasurer
Patrick Kocourek, CPA (inactive), is the Treasurer of the Board and has served on the Board since 2021. He graduated from Providence College and is the CFO at Zeman Construction where he has worked for over 20 years.
He and his wife Teri have five children: Matthew ‘18, Anna ’20, Meggan ‘22, Erinn ‘24, and Gretta ‘28. The Kocourek family are members at St. Hubert’s in Chanhassen, where Pat currently chairs the Finance Committee. He also serves on the Board of the St. Paul Seminary.
Fr. James Liekhus '97
Father Jim Liekhus ’97 serves as the Archdiocesan Representative on the BSM Board. He is the pastor of the three parishes in Richfield (St. Richard, St. Peter, and Assumption), as well as the canonical administrator of Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Richfield.
Fr. Liekhus attended St. John Vianney Seminary and the St. Paul Seminary at the University of St. Thomas, and he was ordained in 2005.
Fr. Liekhus has served on the Board since 2018.
Sean Lumpkin '88
Sean Lumpkin '88 was a member of BSM’s Strategic Enrollment Committee for five years before he joined the Board in 2021.
He graduated from the University of Minnesota and is an Executive Account Specialist - Anti-Infectives at AbbVie.
He and his wife Tracy have four children: Sanjay ‘12, Sierre ‘23, Xavier ’24, and Nathan.
Phong Luong
Phong Luong recently retired as an attorney after practicing for over 27 years. His civil litigation practice encompassed a broad range of clients, from advising corporations and educational institutions to injured workers.
He and his wife Jacke’ are the parents of BSM graduates Sarah '20 and Anna '17. Phong also coached the Red Knight varsity volleyball team for eight years. He has served on the boards of SuperHero Kids Foundation, St. John the Baptist School, Bridges to Learning, and Ability Building Community. He joined BSM's Board in 2022.
Tom Lynch '85, Vice Chair
Tom Lynch is general counsel and chief compliance officer for BillionToOne. He holds a juris doctorate degree from Boston College Law School, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of St. Thomas, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University. Tom and his wife Anastasia ’85 have four children: Sean ‘17, Frankie ’20, T.J. ’22, and Amelia '25.
Tom has served on the Board since 2018.
Nadia Martyn '05
Nadia Martyn is the VP, General Counsel and Privacy Officer, Insurance Division for Delta Dental of Minnesota.
Nadia holds a B.A. in History from Boston College and a juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School.
Nadia and her husband Joe ’05 are the parents of two future Red Knights, and are members of Our Lady of Grace parish in Edina.
Nadia has served on the Board since 2018.
Jason Matz
Jason Matz is the Chief Investment Officer for GHR Foundation, an organization that improves lives by working toward a just, peaceful and healthy future. Jason and his wife Stephanie have two children who attended BSM, Jasper ‘20 and Beckett ‘22.
Jason chairs BSM’s Investment Committee and has served on the Board since 2017.
Sister Joan Mitchell, CSJ
Sister Joan Mitchell, CSJ, PhD New Testament; Publisher, Good Ground Press, creates gospel-centered religious education programs for teens and adults.
Sister Joan has represented the Sisters of St. Joseph of Carondelet on the BSM Board since 2012.
Jenna Murphy, Parent Association President
Jenna Murphy has been part of the BSM community since 2017 and has served in a variety of ways on the Parent Association, chairing several events for the BSM community.
Jenna also enjoys volunteering in the BSM Spirit Shop and connecting with students. She earned a double major in marketing and entrepreneurship from the University of St. Thomas.
She and her husband Michael have one child, Alexis '23.
Laura Portz, Chair
Laura Portz has an MBA from the Carlson School of Management and has more than 20 years of experience leading Compensation and Global Mobility in large multinational organizations including General Mills and Carlson Companies.
Laura and her husband Tom have two children, Nick ‘20 and Sarah ‘22.
Laura is the Chair of the Board and has served on the Board since 2018.
Ann Ruff '73
Ann Ruff is a retired nonprofit executive. Her 40 year career included leading fund development efforts for the College of Saint Benedict and CommonBond Communities. Ann is married to John Cooper.
She has served on the Board since 2017.
Mark Sanderson
Mark Sanderson is the managing program director at Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, leading strategy and planning for the organization’s Environment and Disaster Relief & Recovery, Arts & Cultures and Legacy domains.
Mark and his wife Katy are the parents of Christian ’18 and Mia ’21.
Mark joined the Board in 2020.
Perry Schmidt
Perry Schmidt is the principal of SitelogIQ-Midwest division. His role includes directing and leading SitelogIQ’s knowledgeable and experienced team to develop, fund, and implement Master Facility Management Plans for K-12 districts on facility issues.
Perry and his wife Anne are the parents of four Red Knights: Megan '09, Ellen '11, Emily '15, and Michael '19.
He has served on the Board since 2020.
Charles Scott
Charles Scott is region sales director at Agiliti Health, LTD. He holds a degree from Tennessee State University. Charles and his wife Phillippa are the parents of two daughters; their youngest daughter is a BSM graduate, Shelby ’22.
He has served on the Board since 2019.
John Theisen '06
John Theisen is a director at CHS, Inc. and holds a B.A. in Accounting from the University of St. Thomas (MN). He and his wife Emily live in Chanhassen, MN with their daughters, Audrey, Rose and Lucy.
John chairs the Strategic Enrollment Committee and has served on the Board since 2018.
John Vonhof '86, Secretary
John Vonhof is a manager at Surescripts, the nation's largest health information network. John and his wife, Laura have a daughter, Marina who attends BSM as a member of the class of 2025.
John is chair of the Governance Committee, and is a member of the Finance and Nominating committees. He also serves as the Secretary of the Board.
