The BSM Parent Association is committed to creating ways to enhance the BSM community and support Catholic education. Volunteering is the perfect way to connect with BSM parents through community building events and fundraisers, as well as recognition and hospitality events to support our students, teachers and families. All of the Parent Association events are volunteer driven and we appreciate your time and committment to making BSM a school we are proud to represent.
The Parent Association uses Sign Up Genius (SUG), an on-line tool, for inviting and scheduling our volunteers. Each semester an email, containing links to the various sign-ups, will be sent to all parents. Throughout each semester, there will be additional opportunities to participate in events that will be communicated via the Knightly News.
Click on the links listed below to see the various volunteer opportunities. Please sign up today! This list is continually updated, so check back often.

If you are a new volunteer at Benilde-St. Margaret's, or within the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis, we encourage you to attend a Virtus training session. There are some additional requirements for those volunteers who will be interacting with students in a leadership or authoritative role, or in an unsupervised event. These are detailed below.
Requirements for those who work directly with students:
BSM values our strong parent-school partnership and welcomes parent volunteers. As part of our commitment to providing a safe environment for our students, BSM and the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis require all volunteers who work with students to to complete Essential 3 Safe Environment Items and complete required re-credentialing every three years:
Essential 3 Safe Environment Items:
- Complete the Online process to submit McDowell background check, Sign the Code of Conduct, and complete online training module.
- Authorize and successfully complete a background check. Please complete this 123B form which is necessary to conduct the Minnesota BCA check.
- Complete a Code of Conduct Form. You will sign online, but a copy is provided here for your convenience.
Instructions for doing the above can be found here.
If you have completed some of these steps in the past as your parish or for a previous school within the last three years, you can just complete this background check sharing form document.
Parents who completed these items more than 3 years ago must:
- Complete a recheck of the background check
- Sign the current code of conduct
- Complete online training video(s) "Keeping the Promise Alive." Or other as assigned
Instructions for doing the re-credentialing can be found here.
All parents are asked to review the Code of Conduct prior to volunteering event to ensure you understand the safe environment expectations.
These items are part of the Protection of Youth and Children Initiative which has been mandated by the Archdiocese. The reason for this mandate is connected to the Charter for the Protection of Children and Young People which was written by our United States Catholic bishops. Essentially the Bishops want to do everything they can to create the safest possible environment for our children and youth. Your help in this endeavor is greatly appreciated. Please visit the Archdiocesan Website for more information. If your questions are not addressed there, please contact Dr. Susan Skinner, Senior High Principal.
