I’ll never forget my first steps in the halls of Benilde-St. Margaret’s Junior High. I was an awkward twelve-year-old, self-conscious and walking into unknown territory. I was flooded with emotions, most of all fear. Ready to turn right around and tell my parents I couldn’t do it, I quietly pushed my fears aside and continued to walk forward.
Prom 2019 Tickets Now Available
Prom 2019, “MidKnight in Paris,” is right around the corner set for Saturday, April 27 at the Profile Event Center (near the University of Minnesota east campus).
Junior and senior Red Knights will or should have received an email containing a link to purchase tickets, select meal choices and guest forms. Once tickets have been purchased, students will receive a second email with a link to sign up for tables. Remember this is a bill to tuition event, and the cost of $50/person will appear on your next tuition bill.
Senior Molly Segner Places Second in Nation at Miss Dance Team USA Competition
BSM senior Molly Segner was honored to represent the BSM Knightettes while participating in the Miss Dance Team USA National Competition, where she placed second in the nation in the solo division. Molly’s successful performance at the regional competition in October qualified her for the national competition with Team Minnesota, which took place in California from March 21-23.
Sixteen BSM students, accompanied by science teacher Lauren Reuss and English teacher Casey Mosich, spent their Spring Break in the Bahamas participating in an experiential program at the Cape Eleuthera Institute (CEI), a facility that promotes a connection between people and the environment through marine research.
Junior High Students Participate in Model UN in New York
For the third year in a row, junior high students in Mr. Josh Belanger’s life skills class had the opportunity to travel to New York to participate in the Montessori Model United Nations (MMUN) conference the week of March 18.
Junior Ronan Brew Receives National Speech & Debate Academic All-American Award
Congratulations to junior, Ronan Brew on earning the National Speech & Debate Association’s Academic All-American award! This award recognizes academic rigor, competitive speech and debate success, and personal excellence.
This distinguished award is given to students who earned the degree of Superior Distinction in the association’s Honor Society, achieved rigorous criteria for GPA and/or test score requirements, and have demonstrated outstanding character and leadership.
Red Knights Place in Top 10 after Strong Showing at BPA State Competition
Congratulations to the seven Red Knights who placed in the top ten at the Business Professionals of America (BPA) state competition Friday, March 8 and Saturday, March 9! BSM had a total of 21 students attend the competition, an extraordinary number, in comparison with last year’s attendance of eleven students.
Biomed Students Qualify for State Science Fair
On Friday, March 1, four groups of Biomed 3 students took part in the 81st annual Twin Cities Regional Science Fair, which was held at the State Fair Coliseum.
The students displayed their posters, provided evidence of their work to date and were interviewed by experts in the field. Results were posted and announced on Saturday morning.
Mock Trial Team Places in Top 5 at State
The Varsity Mock Trial team attended the Minnesota State Tournament, Thursday, February 28 and Friday, March 1 in Duluth and placed in the top five! They faced Eden Prairie in round one, Eastview in round two, and Apple Valley in a very close third and final round.
Trout in the Classroom Program Featured in Sun Sailor
Students in Ms. Reuss's 8th-grade science class received over 250 rainbow trout eggs from Minnesota Trout Unlimited (MNTU) to raise in their classroom back in December. Students have been raising the trout in a 75-gallon fish tank and have taken on the responsibility of caring for the fish and testing water quality parameter including pH, ammonia, and nitrate daily.
