Registration is now OPEN for the BSM athletic training sessions that will take place this summer.  All workouts will follow guidelines outlined by the Minnesota Department of Health as part of the Stay Safe MN plan.  For those activities on campus, many of the safety measures that will take place are in this document - Covid 19 Training Guidelines.   Off campus activities will be following something very similar.

BSM Summer Camps for 2020

General Information and Directions:

  • Please arrive the first day of camp about 15 minutes early to check in. Our coaches will be at the camp location at least 10 minutes before the camp begins and will remain at the location for approximately 15 minutes after camp ends. Please be sure the camper is picked up right after camp each day.

  • We suggest each camper bring their own water bottle (clearly marked) and any necessary equipment to participate in the camp.

  • All camps will be held at Benilde-St. Margaret's School (2501 South Highway 100, St. Louis Park) EXCEPT for the following:

    • Boys' Hockey Camps which are held at St. Louis Park Rec Center (3700 Monterey Drive, St. Louis Park)

    • Girls' Hockey Camp which is held at St. Louis Park Rec Center (3700 Monterey Drive, St. Louis Park) or Fortis Gym (7000 Washington Avenue S, Eden Prairie)

    • Sailing Camp which is at Lake Harriet (4135 West Lake Harriet Parkway, Minneapolis). Meet at boat launch at the Sailing School hut.

    • Tennis Camp which is held at Aquila Park Tennis Courts (3110 Xylon Avenue S, St. Louis Park)

Description: 

Explore your inner actor! Students attending BSM’s Drama Camp will explore a variety of theater-related activities including pantomime, vocal performance, auditioning skills and movement/choreography. All participants will receive a T-shirt and instruction from current theater department staff as well as recent theater department graduates. A performance showcasing skills learned will be held on the final day of camp.

Description: This camp serves as an introduction to French through conversation, culture, songs and games. No previous exposure to French is necessary. Topics include: greetings, numbers, colors, clothing, parts of the body, Café vocabulary, the French-speaking world, Paris Monuments and French trivia. Description: Take to the skies with mini drones! Housing a thrilling, hands-on aerial robotics platform, this campis the perfect introduction to the world of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). In this indoor camp, safety is a priority as students learn to fly and explore the real-world applications of drones. Students will master basic piloting skills, program their drone to fly on its own, and use the Engineering Design Process to problem solve. Putting critical thinking to the test, the camp also has students brainstorm ways drones could be used for good, sketching out their ideas for new and innovative drones and
uses.

Description: Have you ever wondered what you would do to save yourself from the zombie apocalypse? Students will find themselves the lone survivors of a zombie apocalypse and learn that the undead are coming to find them. The challenge is to stay alive until scientists find a cure. Be careful! They will work in teams and use the Engineering Design Process to create projects to help them make the best choices for their own and their classmates’ survival.

Description: During the LEGO® Robotics Olympics camp, students work in pairs to design and program EV3 robots to compete in simulated Olympic events such as a sprinting in a race, throwing a basketball, and shooting a puck into a hockey goal. Description: Students will find themselves stranded on an abandoned island filled with perilous obstacles – dark caves, wild animals, cold temperatures, little food, and separation from the comforts of home. They will work collaboratively with their tribe members to compete against other tribes in specific engineering-related projects aimed at trying to survive the harsh island conditions and escape to
their freedom. The tribe with the most points at the end of the week will claim the honor of being the winners of Survivor Island!

Class: The Science of the Human Body & Biomedical Solutions (NEW)​ - CANCEL

Description: Take a closer look at the science of the human body when you join our Biomedical Engineering camp! Through learning-by-doing experiences, you’ll begin to unravel the mysteries of the human
body by running for a minute to measure heart rate, approximate energy expenditure and discover the importance of refueling with proper nutrition. You’ll explore how canes, artificial legs, and other
therapeutic and assistive devices are developed; and identify the necessary tools to keep an injured heart going, such as balloon catheters, stents, and valves. You’ll use the Engineering Design Process
to design, create, test, and refine basic solutions related to insulation, artificial heart valves, prosthetics, surgical instruments, and diagnostic tools such as a model thermometer. Maintaining
health and fitness is a lifelong endeavor, and before you know it, YOU will be the architect who supports healthy, comfortable living.

Description: The BSM football camp will provide a non-contact learning environment focusing on skills, techniques and teamwork. The emphasis will be on fundamentals. All campers will receive a T-shirt, and awards are given daily.

Description: BSM high school students who plan on participating in the football program will learn the fundamentals of the game while learning the basic concepts of the Red Knights offense and defense.  Equipment will be given out and there will be limited contact at this camp. We will be following the Minnesota State High School League rules for camp regarding contact -  two days of camp with helmets and mouth guards followed by two days of camp with shoulder pads, helmets and mouth guards, followed by one day of camp in full gear.

*NOTE:  Players planning to attend any University of Minnesota Duluth Football Camp -- MUST first register for and attend the BSM 10-12 camp in order to be in compliance with MSHSL summer football practice guidelines.

Description: Football Agility Strength and Speed Training (FAST) is a comprehensive regimen specifically designed to develop football players. Our program is based on the University of Wisconsin’s strength and agility program and our results have proven that it works. It is highly physically demanding and is recommended for sophomores, juniors and seniors. Freshmen are welcome to participate.

FAST incorporates speed work, agility drills to improve foot speed, and rigorous weight lifting to develop strength, power, and explosiveness. Since we started using this program in 2008, those players who have committed themselves to the program have had tremendous success. They have become stronger, faster and more complete football players who are prepared to start the season. We meet Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays from 7-9 am on the football field and in the weight room throughout the summer.

2020 STP High School Camp (Grades 9-12)

Dates:  June 8-11, 15-18, 22-25, July 6-9, 13-16, 20-23  (Mon-Thurs)         

Time Schedule:  Mon/Wed (staggered group sessions 10:45 a.m. - 2:15 p.m.) are dedicated to on-ice skill training, concepts and small area games, followed by dryland training and classroom. Tues/Thurs are scrimmage days with two groups (10:00 a.m. - 11:15 a.m. for grades 9-10 and 11:30 a.m. - 12:45 p.m. for grades 11 - 12).

Cost:  $635

Description:  Hey Red Knights (Current and New) and Girls Lax players who want to improve their game -- join us for twelve sessions of intensive lacrosse training this summer with BSM varsity coaches. We will have conditioning, individual skill training and team concepts. Players will have fun and work hard, helping the girls to grow individually and as teammates.

Samples of activities include: Attacking - dodges and fakes, 1v1s to goal, eluding a double team. Midfield - taking the draw, attacking ground balls and midfield defense. Defense - 1v1s, slides and clears. Extensive stick work drills necessary for the game! Work on small-sided games and larger 7v7 scrimmages.

Location: Lake Harriet (4135 West Lake Harriet Parkway, Minneapolis - by boat launch & Sailing School hut)

Description: Have fun learning the basics of sailing including tacking, gybing, wind, knots, docking and boat rigging. Everyone gets to skipper the boat and trim the sails of a Lido 14 foot sailboat equipped with both a main and headsail on Lake Harriet. Each sailboat will have one coach and up to three students. Junior Red Knights Volleyball Camp - CANCEL

Description: This introductory camp is designed for the young aspiring spikers between 3rd through 6th grade. Emphasis will be placed on the FUNdamentals of the game in a fast-moving paces with a focus on getting many reps for every camper. Participants will learn the basic skills necessary for passing, setting, serving and attacking the ball. Campers will also be taught some of the basic rules of the game and rotation. This is a great first camp or a good recap for those athletes wanting to advance their skills to the next level. BSM Varsity coaches and athletes will lead a fun-filled week of games, instructions and contests. T-shirts will be awarded to all participants.

The one-hour lesson at BSM can be one-on-one or with another player and arranged at the mutually available time.

The coaching staff will assign Groups for grades 7/8 and 9/10 in order to accommodate anticipated registrations and meet limitations on numbers allowed.  Registration form will have a option to request Group 1 (Wolves) or Group 2 (Lakers).  Coaching staff will make every effort to accommodate requests.  Participants will be notified by email of assigned group before workouts begin.

Boys’ Lacrosse Training

Description: Training under the direction of BSM Head Boys Lacrosse Coach, Rob Horn and members of the BSM coaching staff, these sessions will focus on skill development.  Team concepts as well as scrimmaging will be added as guidelines allow through the rest of the summer.  As conditions allow, Red and White groups may be combined into one two hour session as the summer progresses.  Confirmation of which group participants will be in will be confirmed before training sessions begin as the coaching staff may want to group by position as well as experience.

Description:  Hey Red Knights (Current and New) and Girls Lax players who want to improve their game -- join us for twelve sessions of intensive lacrosse training this summer with BSM varsity coaches. We will have conditioning, individual skill training and team concepts. Players will have fun and work hard, helping the girls to grow individually and as teammates.

Samples of activities include: Attacking - dodges and fakes, 1v1s to goal, eluding a double team. Midfield - taking the draw, attacking ground balls and midfield defense. Defense - 1v1s, slides and clears. Extensive stick work drills necessary for the game! Work on small-sided games and larger 7v7 scrimmages.

Multiple Groups are necessary to accommodate anticipated registrations and for social distancing guidelines.  Registration form will have an option to request Group A or Group B.  Coaching staff will make every effort to accommodate requests.  Participants will be notified by email of assigned session before workouts begin.
