Each year, BSM campus ministry discerns a scripture passage to serve as a theme to guide students throughout the school year. The theme for the 2023-2024 school year comes from the Book of the Prophet Jeremiah.
“For I know well the plans I have in mind for you – plans for your welfare and not for woe, so as to give you a future of hope. When you call me and come and pray to me,
I will listen to you. When you look for me, you will find me. Yes, when you seek me with all your heart, I will let you find me, and I will change your lot” (Jer 29:11-14).
Jeremiah in this passage reminds us that God is faithful. God has a plan for each one of us. God wants us to know Him. With this verse as inspiration, BSM is encouraging and inviting students to seek God “with all your heart” knowing God wants each of us to find Him. This theme serves as an encouragement for each of us - including faculty, staff, parents, and the entire BSM community.
God wants to have an ever deeper relationship with each of us and is faithful in His being willing to meet each of us wherever we may be on our personal faith journey. He desires to be known by us and through this knowing of God our Father and Creator, we can come to better understand ourselves and the plans He has for our welfare; “the future of hope” He has in mind for each one of us.
Perhaps the challenge for us this year is to let God into our lives. Structured daily prayer time or simply making time to talk with God in some form helps bring God into our daily routines. This daily practice of prayer or conversation with God can look different for everyone depending on our unique life circumstances. Rote prayer, scripture meditation, quiet contemplation of God’s presence, journaling, and small group sharing are some of the ways we can use to let God into our lives each day. May all of us be inspired to meet Him in prayer, so that we may seek God with all our heart.
