Science National Honor Society

The Science National Honor Society serves as a platform for students who demonstrate exceptional performance in science coursework, exhibit strong leadership qualities, and actively engage in scientific inquiry and community service. We believe that fostering a community of like-minded individuals can further inspire a love for science and create opportunities for collaboration and innovation.

To be eligible for membership in the Science National Honor Society, students must maintain a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 in all courses, and a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.5 in science courses.

  • Rising juniors must have completed two honors level science courses (most likely honors biology and honors chemistry), and plan to enroll in an AP science course (AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Environmental Science, AP Computer Science) in their junior and senior year.
  • Rising seniors must be enrolled in an AP Science course their senior year.

Membership is not automatically conferred simply because a student has achieved a specified level of academic performance. SNHS meets once a month. These monthly meetings are mandatory for active members. SNHS members must also participate actively in SNHS-sponsored events, activities and service projects.

Membership in the Science National Honor Society provides students with opportunities for personal and intellectual growth, as well as a platform to make a positive impact in their communities through science outreach and service.
