Benilde-St. Margaret’s is emerging as the top school for Catholic education in the Twin Cities.
School spirit is high, enrollment is incredibly strong and our Red Knight culture of teaching and learning continues to help each student reach his or her highest potential.
Additionally, construction on phase one of the Imagine. Innovate. Inspire. Knight by Knight capital campaign, began this past June. Three state-of-the-art science labs and an amphitheater-style performance and classroom space are scheduled to be complete later this school year.
It’s an exciting time to be a Red Knight!
As we look to the future of Benilde-St. Margaret’s, we know that a long-term plan will proactively address challenges and leverage opportunities that support our commitment to provide an exceptional, faith-based education that maximizes every student’s potential.
For these reasons, we’re embarking on the creation of a new Strategic Plan that will guide our work through the next five years.
Here’s how we’ll build the plan.
BSM is working with the Meitler Group to build the next Strategic Plan, a company based out of Wisconsin with more than 40 years of extensive experience. The Meitler Group has helped hundreds of Catholic schools create strategic plans tailored to their individual needs and goals.
As we begin to build our own Strategic Plan, we’ll be incorporating the ideas and opinions of key constituents throughout our community.
A core planning team has been identified which includes representation from BSM faculty and staff, current parents, past parents, alumni, coaches and advisers. The team will be meeting over the course of six months to build the plan alongside the assistance of Meitler Group.
Meitler Group will also be facilitating focus groups and conducting interviews with a range of stakeholders in the Red Knight community throughout the process. We will also be conducting a Parent Survey to solicit insight on the future of our school.
Additionally, BSM will explore a range of data sets with the Meitler Group to incorporate important information regarding demographics and enrollment that will be critical in the planning process.
What is the goal of the plan?
The ultimate goal of the plan is to continue helping BSM evolve as an exceptional faith-based college preparatory school in the Twin Cities.
This will be achieved by leveraging Red Knight alumni to share their experiences, seeking out innovative ways to tell the Red Knight story locally, nationally and internationally, highlighting new opportunities, and identifying areas of improvement.
What about the most recent Strategic Plan?
We’re currently in the process of reviewing and assessing BSM’s most recent Strategic Plan: BSM 2020, Our Future Legacy.
BSM 2020 had four key focus areas which included: 21st Century Academic Excellence, Developing the Whole Student in a Catholic Community, Best Teaching and Innovative Instruction and Invest in BSM’s Future.
We’ll use BSM 2020 as a baseboard to spark conversation in the creation of our new Strategic Plan, which will guide us through the year 2024.
What will the next plan and next steps look like?
After the extensive ground work is complete, a new Strategic Plan will be adopted by the BSM Board of Directors in the spring of 2019. The plan, based on stakeholder input, will include goals, strategies, relevant benchmarks, and an implementation framework. The finished product will serve as a guiding light over the next five years.
Together, our hope is that after five years, after five months, even after five days – we are seeing change...We are providing more opportunities for students to discover their passions, to give back to their communities, to make a difference, to connect with others, and explore their faith. We are seeing more futures made by the students who walk through the doors, the hallways – and across the stage at Benilde-St. Margaret’s.
