Red Knight Round Up
Wednesday, August 10, 2022: 7 a.m. - 1 p.m.
OR
Tuesday, August 16, 2022: 1 - 6 p.m.
 

This is BSM's annual registration process for enrolled students.*

New students and families are required to attend one of these dates, ensuring you have access to resources for the school year, including: PowerSchool, tech pick-up, athletics and activities forms, lunch accounts, etc. Roundup also provides opportunities to connect with other members of the BSM community. Average time on campus is about an hour to complete all aspects of Roundup. A make-up date is TBD at this time. 

Parents can complete the registration process online through PowerSchool, a portal BSM uses for school information.

Parents of new and existing students will receive an email with instructions on how to complete the required forms the week of July 11. 
If you do not receive the email, or if you need assistance completing these forms, email roundup@BSMschool.org or call 952-927-4176.

*Students may not begin the 2022-2023 school year until all the forms are completed.


Laptop Pick Up and Orientation (For new-to-BSM students ONLY)
Wednesday, August 10, 2022: 9 - 10 a.m. or 10 - 11 a.m.
OR
Tuesday, August 16, 2022: 3 - 4 p.m. or 4 - 5 p.m.

Choose one of these sessions to pick up your MacBook Air and get receive general training from the BSM tech team. No need to RSVP.

Email helpdesk@bsmschool.org if you cannot make these dates. 

The event will allow students to:

  • Receive their BSM laptop
  • Get their school picture taken (for ID purposes)

Parents will also have an opportunity to purchase their student’s BSM Physical Education (PE) uniform, required for students in grades 7-9.

The Spirit Shop, located inside the commons/cafeteria at BSM, will be open for purchases.

2021-22 Picture Day (REQUIRED)

Every student must have their picture taken for ID purposes. Students who were unable to attend the laptop orientation will have an opportunity to get their photo taken Monday, August 29, 2022. Retakes will be Thursday, September 29.

Photo packages will be available for purchase at jostenspix.com following picture day. Create a free account; then search for Benilde-St. Margaret's High School or Benilde-St. Margaret's Junior High.

School Lunch Service Registration and Information

BSM’s student lunch service is managed through an outside company, Taher. Each family will receive an email from Taher with student lunch registration details and other information before the start of the school year. Email llynch@bsmschool.org with questions about your account.

Students can utilize a finger print reader or swipe their school ID at the cashier to pay for their lunch. Not all students buy lunch at school; it’s not uncommon for students to bring their lunch from home.

New Student Orientation Activities (REQUIRED)
Monday, August 29, 2022

New-to-BSM students in Junior High (grades 7-8) and Senior High (grades 9-12) are required to attend Orientation events, serving as the unofficial start of the school year. It's a great opportunity to connect with new classmates, walk through schedules, and get to know the BSM community. 

The event will organize students in grade level groups to:

  • Receive their BSM laptop
  • Participate in technology training to learn about BSM’s digital resources
  • Learn how to set up their email and PowerSchool accounts
  • Get their school picture taken (for ID purposes)

Parents will also have an opportunity to purchase their student’s BSM Physical Education (PE) uniform, required for students in grades 7-9.

The Spirit Shop, located inside the commons/cafeteria at BSM, will be open for purchases. 

Lunch will be served both days.

    New Parent Orientation
    Tuesday, August 30, 2022 8 - 8:30 a.m.

    Meet with Junior High Principal Rikki Mortl and Mr. Damian Johnson in the school theater for an overview of how the BSM junior high operates.

    Learn about BSM's Positive Behavior Intervention System (PBIS), parent teacher communication, technology expectations, and this year's scripture theme. 


    First Official Day of School
    Tuesday, August 30, 2022 
    from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 

    All students on campus for a regular school day.


    Labor Day Weekend (No School)
    Friday, September 2, 2022, and Monday, September 5, 2022.

    School resumes Tuesday, September 6 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 


    Attendance Process
    If a student is going to be absent or needs to arrive late or leave early, a parent must notify the school using this form.

    Knight School
    Monday, September 12, 2022: 6:30 p.m.

    BSM’s annual Knight School event gives all parents/guardians a chance to be a Red Knight for the evening. Parents will receive instructions on how to follow their son/daughter’s academic schedule and attend mini-classes with their teachers. Attendees will also hear from administration and school leadership. This is a great way to meet other BSM families and see what the year has in store for your Red Knight! 


    Homecoming Week
    Monday, September 19 - Saturday, September 24, 2022

    Homecoming football game at 12 noon on Saturday, September 24 with the Red Knight dance (grades 9 - 12) that evening.

    Additional festivities, activities, and events will be posted as the week draws near. 

    Required Student Orientation Days

    7th and 8th Grade Orientation (Class of 2026 and 2027)
    Monday, Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m. 

    • This day is designed for 7th grade students and new-to-BSM 8th grade students. Lunch may be purchased from the cafeteria or brought from home. Students should wear comfortable clothing and enter at the Haben Center (west end of parking lot). School supplies may be brought to school on this day or on the first day of school. The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition into BSM’s Junior High a positive one. Eighth grade WEB leaders will serve as mentors to the new 7th and 8th grade students during the activities on orientation day as well as throughout the school year.

    9th Grade Orientation (Class of 2025)
    Monday, Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.  

    • The day begins at 8 a.m. and concludes at 2:30 p.m. Students should wear comfortable clothing that follows the dress code. Lunch may be purchased at school or brought from home. There is no need to bring any school materials. The purpose of this orientation is to make the transition from middle school to high school a positive one. Senior and junior Link Crew leaders will serve as mentors to the freshmen during the activities on orientation day as well as throughout the school year.

    Transfer and International Student Orientation (Grades 10-12)
    Monday, Aug. 30: 12:30-2:30 p.m.

    • This day is designed for students in grades 10-12 who are brand new to BSM. There is no need to bring any school materials.

    Buses will run at their regular times on Monday, Aug. 30; they are scheduled to arrive at BSM by 7:20 a.m. and depart at 2:40 p.m.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    When do students get laptops?

    • For students grades 7-12 who are brand new to BSM, laptops will be distributed at the required new student orientation event on Aug. 10 or 11. See the information above to register and learn more. BSM's technology team will provide all the necessary links, usernames, passwords, and codes students will need to access their digital resources. 
    • For returning students in grades 8-12, laptops will be distributed at the required laptop orientation event on Aug. 10, 11, or 12. See the information above to register and learn more. 

    What school supplies do I need?

    • All Students: Please have a pair of headphones that can be used with your MacBook Air laptop for the year. Wireless or wired headphones or earbuds are acceptable.
    • Junior High (7-8): Click here to see the junior high supplies list.
    • Senior High (9-12): There is no school supply list for senior high. Students can make their own choice on folders or binders, whatever is preferred. Once school starts, teachers may make recommendations for specific supplies. Senior high students may choose to use the online google calendar to stay organized or may opt to bring their own hard copy planner/calendar.  

    Do I need to buy a calculator? 

    • Students enrolled in Intermediate Algebra, Algebra II, or beyond must have the TI Nspire CX (Not CAS CX).  This calculator will last students the rest of high school, college, and beyond.

    What are summer assignments?

    • Senior high students in grades 9-11 have a summer assignment. Click here to see your assignments. Seniors - please check based on the courses you are taking this year.
    • Junior high students do not have summer assignments.

    What is the dress code?

    • The dress code can be found on page 37 of the 2021-2022 Student Handbook.
    • If you are not sure if something fits with the dress code, please ask Ms. Mortl (grade 7 and 8), Mr. Weingartz (grade 9 and 10), or Ms. Dahlstrom (grades 11 and 12) before you would wear the selection to school.

    When do I get my schedule?

    • Senior high students will be able to see their schedule on PowerSchool before school starts. Students and parents will receive an email notification when schedules are published and viewable online. Students who are brand new to BSM can see their schedules using their parents’ PowerSchool account. Once school starts, you will have your own account. While students have already had a chance to see and change their schedules, we know that there might be some adjustments that need to be made. If that is the case, please email your counselor.
    • *Please note, junior high schedules will be distributed late August.
