Choir

Choir (Academic Class)

Cantemus – Choir (S1) and/or (S2) One semester, one credit, traditionally a 9th grade ensemble, but open to other grade levels as needed for scheduling purposes. This course is designed for students with developing voice and musical skills. An emphasis is placed on the basics of vocal production and music theory. A wide selection of music is rehearsed and performed throughout the school year.

Students will also have an opportunity to work on solos and ensembles for a contest/festival and audition for honor choirs. Attendance is required at all performances and concerts. It is highly suggested to enroll in both semesters of choir. 

Concert Choir – Choir (S1) and/or (S2) One semester, one credit, open to sophomores, juniors, and seniors. This course is designed for students who have built confidence in their musical abilities, and are ready to work on music at a higher level. An emphasis is placed on more advanced choral skills and musicianship.

A wide selection of music is rehearsed and performed throughout the school year. Students will also have an opportunity to work on solos and ensembles for a contest/festival and audition for honor choirs. Attendance is required at all performances and concerts. It is highly suggested to enroll in both semesters of choir.

MidKnights

MidKnights is our treble voice extracurricular choir. They have auditions in the spring and rehearse Wednesday and Friday mornings at 7:15 AM. Students perform a wide variety of treble music, and perform at the choir concert each semester. They also perform at various competitions and contests throughout the year. Participation in a curricular choir is strongly encouraged.

Time Commitment: Wednesday and Friday mornings


Red Knotes

The BSM Red Knotes is our mixed voice a cappella choir. They have auditions in the spring and rehearse Tuesday and Thursday mornings at 7:15 a.m. Students perform a wide variety of unaccompanied music. Red Knotes performs at many school functions, local schools, and community events. They also participate in various competitions and contests throughout the year. Participation in a curricular choir is strongly encouraged.

Time Commitment: Tuesday and Thursday mornings

Note: Students who are eligible for, and interested in, more than one choir are encouraged to sing in as many as they would like. 

Students are allowed to take choir as a wellness option if it does not fit into the student's schedule.
