Trout in the Classroom Program Featured in Sun Sailor

Students in Ms. Reuss's 8th-grade science class received over 250 rainbow trout eggs from Minnesota Trout Unlimited (MNTU) to raise in their classroom back in December. Students have been raising the trout in a 75-gallon fish tank and have taken on the responsibility for caring for the fish and testing water quality parameter including pH, ammonia, and nitrate daily.

Last week, a representative from MNTU visited with students and talked about the macroinvertebrates that make up the trout's diet. They also learned how to tie their own flies. Now that’s cool!
