Three BSM Students Named Semifinalists for the 2021 National Merit Scholarship Program

Congratulations to BSM seniors Hans Backes, Charlie Damberg, and Oriana Sampson, who were announced as semifinalists for the 2021 National Merit Scholarship program this month!

A highly competitive program, the National Merit Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.
These students placed among the top percentile of more than approximately 1.5 million students who entered the competition. The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than one percent of U.S. high school seniors.

These Red Knights are not only high achievers in their studies, but they also excel in several activities outside of the classroom. Hans Backes is captain of the varsity boys soccer team, a member of the track team, and participates in various clubs such as Red Knight Volunteer Corps and the Robocub team. Oriana Sampson plays the piano and violin, and sings in choir. She is also learning mandarin chinese and manages her own stock portfolio. During the winter, Charlie Damberg can often be found on the ice as a member of the Flyers hockey team, and he serves as the Executive Board President of BSM's Student Council.

We could not be more proud! Not only are these three incredible scholars, but they are also outstanding people. Congratulations! #BSMProud
