Red Knights Named Semifinalist and Commended Scholars in 2022 National Merit Program

Congratulations to Red Knight Ryan Long ‘22 who was named a Semifinalist in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. The National Merit® Scholarship Program honors individual students who show exceptional academic ability and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Long placed among the top percentile of more than 1.5 million students who entered the competition nationwide by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT). Semifinalists are the highest scoring entrants in each state. Long looks to advance in the competition to become a finalist eligible for various scholarships awarded in the spring.

Ryan Long not only excels academically but he is accomplished in many areas outside of the classroom as well. He’s a captain for BSM’s boys’ swim and dive team; captain of the math league; a member of chess club, band, and link crew; and he is active in his parish. Physics, taught by Mr. Stevens, has been his favorite class throughout high school. We’re wishing him the best as he continues on in the competition!

Additional kudos go out to Red Knights Nicole Doering ‘22, Max Herro ’22, and Elena Latterell ‘22 who received Commended Scholar recognition for scoring in the top 3 percent of nation-wide test takers.

These students have bright futures ahead of them, and we are so proud to call them Red Knights!
