Red Knight Ava Wagener '22 Represents BSM at Congress of Future Medical Leaders
Red Knight Ava Wagener '22 represented the BSM community as a Delegate at the prestigious Congress of Future Medical Leaders from June 23-25 in Lowell, MA. The Congress is a historic gathering created by the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists in an effort to empower future leaders in the medical community.
During the trip, Ava met and collaborated with other students from across the globe while discussing medical research, heard from speakers with inspiring stories and backgrounds, and learned what a future college and professional career in medicine may look like.
She met several scientists including Shree Bose (2015 Google Science winner), Jack Andraka, a leader in cancer research, as well as world-class professors from Harvard, Yale and Georgetown. Ava also had the opportunity to watch a live knee replacement surgery.
Ava's nomination letter was signed by Dr. Mario Capecchi who won the Nobel Prize in Medicine and serves as the Science Director at the National Academy of Future Physicians and Medical Scientists. Her nomination stated the she will "represent Benilde-St. Margaret's based on her academic achievement, leadership potential and determination to serve humanity in the field of medicine.”
“I am very excited for my future and I would love to see where my love of science can go. I would like to thank BSM for being supportive of this journey,” Ava said.
