Red Knight Alana Kabaka Performs Spoken Word Poem at Congressional Art Competition

Benilde-St. Margaret’s would like to congratulate Red Knight Alana Kabaka ('21) who was selected to perform her spoken word poem "African Queens" at the Congressional Art Competition Reception on Monday, April 22, 2019.

As part of the competition, students submit entries to their representative’s office, and panels of district artists select the winning entries. Winners are recognized both in their district and at an annual awards ceremony in Washington, D.C. The winning works are also displayed for one year at the U.S. Capitol.

This national competition has been held annually since 1982 and is sponsored by the Congressional Institute. The competition was created to celebrate student artistic talent locally and across the nation.

Congratulations, Alana!
