Help Red Knights and Beth El Fight Hunger in St. Louis Park Oct. 7-9
From Mon. Oct. 7 through Wed. Oct. 9, BSM invites all students to donate items to help fight hunger as part of a Food Drive hosted in conjunction with Beth El Synagogue in support of the St. Louis Park Emergency Program (STEP).
Beth El hosts this food drive during the holiest day of the year in Judaism - Yom Kippur, to raise awareness in support of STEP where the proceeds eventually go. STEP serves as the only food shelf in the state of Minnesota that offers kosher items.
Due to the amount of visitors that attend synagogue services during this time, the food drive has always proven to be a huge success. In addition to the community surrounding Beth El, they have also invited BSM to be apart of the growing movement to increase food drives.
Many times, food drives are portrayed as out of date, and a waste of resources, but this simply isn’t true for STEP. This service provides food, clothing and transportation to the residents of St. Louis Park.
In two of our senior Theology classes at BSM, Faith In Action, students are working together to educate the community and raise awareness surrounding hunger. Red Knights will count and load all items onto the donation truck BSM is hosting on Wed., Oct. 9.
Examples of items you can donate include canned beans, cereal, pasta, spices, diapers and toilet paper. For more information on donation items needed, please visit the STEP website. You CAN help fight hunger today!
