Fall Sports Update: Many BSM Teams Finish Strong While Others Continue to Fight
Many teams have completed their seasons with much success while others are only midway through their schedules. From championship titles, to new school records, to a commitment to hard work, each team has something to be proud of this year.
Boys’ Cross Country
Head Coach Mark Snell commented on the team saying, “The runners worked hard all season, and beating Blake by two points was a highlight.” The boys’ cross country team wrapped up their season with a 10th place finish at the 6AA Section Meet Oct. 14.
Girls’ Cross Country
The girls’ cross country team completed their season with a 10th place finish at the 6AA Section Meet Oct. 14. This young team is looking forward to training in the off-season and coming back stronger next year!
The football season’s delayed-start means BSM’s team is only halfway through their matches. A highlight of the season so far is a 41-0 victory over DeLaSalle. The next challenge for the Red Knights is the Oct. 30 game away against Bloomington Jefferson. The girls’ soccer team had an incredibly strong season, proven by their 12-1-1 record and their Section 5A Championship Title after beating Blake 3-1 in the Section Finals Saturday, Oct. 24. Way to go! This season was also their third consecutive Metro West Conference Championship title.
The boys’ soccer team also had a successful season which resulted in their advancing to the Section 5A Semifinals against Blake Friday, Oct. 23. The team has much to be proud of!
The girls’ swim and dive team had many notable accomplishments at the Section 2A meet Saturday, Oct. 24 taking second place overall. BSM’s Sydney Holinka '22, Melanie Chang '21, Taylor Williams '21, and Lauren Benedict '23 captured a new BSM school record with a time of 1:49.84 in the 200 Medley Relay. Taylor Williams ‘21 also broke BSM school records in the 100 Butterfly and 100 Backstroke. In the final event of the evening, the 400 Freestyle Relay, Elizabeth Long ‘24, Claire Prindiville ‘23, Sydney Holinka ‘22, and Taylor Williams claimed an exciting 1st place finish.
The BSM girls’ tennis team had a season full of accomplishments which culminated in a second place title at the Section 6AA Tournament! Also impressive was their fifth straight Metro West Conference Championship win and season record of 13-2.
A few highlights from Red Knight volleyball include back-to-back victories in which BSM swept the matches (3-0) against Bloomington Kennedy Oct. 15 and again against Robbinsdale Cooper Oct. 21.
