English Teacher Maura Brew Receives the 2017 CTAM Award

Outstanding Individual in Communication and Theater award

English teacher Maura Brew received an award at the annual CTAM (Communication and Theater Association of Minnesota) conference in St. Cloud Friday, September 15. The Outstanding Individual in Communication and Theater Award is designed to recognize individuals who have made truly significant contributions to communication and/or theater education in the state of Minnesota. Second, the award is designed to recognize individuals who have made truly significant contributions to the communication arts and/or theater arts in the state of Minnesota. The award is also designed to recognize individuals who have used the arts of communication and/or theater to make significant contributions to their professions and/or society.

Maura was nominated by Roxy Janke (one of BSM’s speech coaches). In the nomination, Roxy talked about what she has seen Ms. Brew accomplish with her speech team and how she worked to bring the BSM program to a place of respect by the people in her section and in the state. 

"Not only is she legendary in the BSM English Department and beloved by students and alumni alike, but she is being honored by the Communication and Theater Association of Minnesota," said English teacher Ms. Belanger

Nominations come in every year; however, the award is only given when CTAM feels a nominee is particularly deserving. Thank you, Ms. Brew. for all that you do not only for your Red Knight students but the entire BSM community! Congratulations on this impressive achievement #BSMProud!
