BSM Mock Trial Season in Full Swing

BSM Mock Trial Season in Full Swing

On Tuesday, Dec. 5, BSM hosted Chesterton Academy and Holy Family as part of the First Annual Red Knight Mock Trial Invitational. Teams competed in one defense and one plaintiff round during the competition.

This year, teams are focusing on a civil case around defamation which stemmed from an article in an area newspaper. The case is fictitious, but has a real tone and quality to it. Each year, teams rotate between civil and criminal cases. Teams will compete this upcoming January and February, with a scrimmage taking place at Hamline the weekend of Dec. 14.

JV participated in a scrimmage on Saturday, Dec. 8, where the team went 1-1. Sophomore Andrew Forby took home the Best Lawyer Award and eighth grader Teigan Blaine won the Best Witness Award.

This year's senior captains Maddie Kurtovich and Myrka Zambrano also attended the U of M scrimmage and helped coach the teams.

A special thanks to Mary Murray for her passion and dedication to the BSM Mock Trial Program and helping participants reach their full potential. Great job to all!
