BSM Celebrates Catholic Schools Week 2021

For 47 years, Catholic schools across the country have been celebrating “National Catholic Schools Week (CSW)” to recognize the unique value of a faith-based education and the contributions Catholic instruction provides to the Church, our communities, and our nation. 

Benilde-St. Margaret’s will join in the fun Feb.1-5 and celebrate this year’s CSW theme -- Faith, Excellence, and Service -- through a variety of meaningful activities. 

Monday  

  • Musician and Motivational Speaker Elec Simon will make a special virtual visit during homeroom to kick-off CSW with a message of respect and unity, and to help students see how they can use their gifts to lift up others.  
  • Grades 7-12 Dress Up Theme: Pajama Day

Tuesday 

  • The BSM community will celebrate mass together with Fr. Tim Wozniak.
  • Grades 7-8 Dress Up Theme: Jersey/Team Sport Day
  • Grades 9-12 Dress Up Theme: Pajama Day

Wednesday

  • Hot chocolate, s’mores, and a bonfire will make the lunch hour extra fun.
  • Students will be encouraged to participate in a “Letters of Love” service activity, to write notes of encouragement to terminally ill children at Children's hospital.
  • 7-8 Dress Up Theme: Groutfit (grey outfit)
  • 9-12 Dress Up Theme: Spirit Wear 

Thursday 

  • Students will be encouraged to participate in a “Letters of Love” service activity, to write notes of encouragement to terminally ill children at Children's hospital.
  • 7-12 Dress Up Theme:Spirit Wear

Friday

  • Junior Class College Prep Day (no school for grades 7-10,12)

 

The BSM community has the opportunity to engage in the "service" pillar of the week through both a Coat Drive and an Item Drive organized by students.

Coat Drive - Feb. 1-4

Please donate any gently used coats and place them in the bins located both at the main entrance and Haben doors. Coats will be given to those in need at the YMCA in North Minneapolis.

Item Drive - Feb. 1-5

Language classes are asked to bring the following, while students not in a language class are encouraged to bring any of the donations on the list to drop off in room 142:

Chinese classes: non-perishable food items
Latin classes: school supplies
French classes: art supplies
Spanish classes: personal hygiene products and toiletries

All items will helf students and families in need at SAGE Academy.
