BSM Campus Minister Offers Prayers as a way to Reflect this Christmas Season
As Red Knights celebrate the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ this Christmas, BSM Campus Minister Mike Jeremiah offers prayers and reflections for the Advent and Christmas seasons.
As we enter the season of Advent, we turn to Isaiah 40:3. “A voice cries out: ‘In the wilderness prepare the way of the Lord, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.’”
“Mary said, ‘Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord. May it be done to me according to your word.’” Luke 1:38
“Rejoice always. Pray without ceasing. In all circumstances give thanks ...” Thessalonians 5:16-18
“The people who walked in darkness have seen a great light; upon those who dwelt in the land of gloom a light has shone.” Isaiah 9:1
“Do not be afraid; for behold, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people. For today in the city of David a savior has been born for you who is Christ and Lord.” Luke 2:10-11
Loving God, so many days have been spent preparing for this day – the decorating and shopping and wrapping – and here I am. I am silent in the presence of a small child wrapped in swaddling clothes and resting on the sweet hay of the manger. I am silent in the presence of my Savior, the One Who came to bring salvation and hope. I find it easy to become discouraged and disheartened in a world that seems at times to have forgotten You, a world so desperately in need of healing. The voice of the angel on that holy night in Bethlehem speaks to me. May I truly live this message, the true meaning of Christmas, each and every day that I am given.
“When they had fulfilled all the prescriptions of the law of the Lord, they returned to Galilee, to their town of Nazareth. The child grew and became strong, filled with wisdom; and the favor of God was upon him.” Luke 2:40
