Biomed Students Qualify for State Science Fair

On Friday, March 1, four groups of Biomed 3 students took part in the 81st annual Twin Cities Regional Science Fair, which was held at the State Fair Coliseum.

The students displayed their posters, provided evidence of their work to date and were interviewed by experts in the field. Results were posted and announced on Saturday morning.

Those advancing to the State Science & Engineering Fair individually include Doreen Liu (’19) and Frannie Scherer (‘19), while Abby O'Neil (’19) and Megan Daubenberger (’19) advanced as a team. Liu was also recognized by the MN Society of Microbiologists for her work.

State Qualifiers’ Work includes:

  • Doreen Liu - Sterilization: Effect of Temperature and Time on Medical-Grade Instruments and Equipment
  • Frannie Scherer – Diffusion of CBD Oil Through Epidermal/Dermal Layer of Skin
  • Abby O’Neil & Megan Daubenberger – The Effects of Nicotine Vapor on the Cognitive and Olfactory Abilities of Mice
