Tuition & Affordability

Benilde-St. Margaret’s proudly offers merit-based scholarships to recognize and celebrate high-achieving students. Priority consideration for merit-based scholarships will be given to applicants applying in 6th, 7th, and 9th grade which are natural entry points. Merit-based scholarship opportunities are limited, and awards and specific amounts are not guarenteed based on the benchmarks listed below.

Scholarship opportunities are as follows:

• Pietas Scholarships (Middle and High School)
  • $5,000 scholarship
  • Awarded for the first year of enrollment (non-renewable)
  • Pietas Scholarships will be awarded to applicants who have achieved a cumulative 3.5 and above GPA or equivalent metric.
• Veritas Scholarships (Middle School)
  • $1,000 scholarship
  • Awarded for the first year of enrollment (non-renewable)
• Scientia Scholarships (High School)
  • $1,500 scholarship
  • Awarded for the first year of enrollment (non-renewable)

In order to be considered for one of our merit-based scholarships, students must have a complete admissions application and meet the following criteria:

• At least a 3.0 or equivalent GPA
• Meet or exceed standardized testing benchmarks
• Maintain a strong attendance record at their current school
• One additional recommendation form outside of the required form submitted through the application portal. This can be completed by a teacher, coach, counselor, mentor, etc.
  • It is the responsibility of each applicant family to send this request directly to their selected party. Our merit-based scholarship recommendation form can be found here. 

An award committee, consisting of members of the Admissions, Administration, and Finance teams, will review and discuss scholarship recipients. Scholarship recipients will be notified of their awards in conjunction with admissions decisions.

BSM will award four scholarships to the top scoring 8th graders (applying for 9th grade) who test on the priority Pre-ACT 8/9 exam dates in December. The award for these scholarships is $1,000 for freshman year and $1,000 for sophomore year. Scholarship information will be communicated with admissions decisions for accepted students.

For families with 3 or more students concurrently enrolled, BSM is pleased to offer a $5,000 grant against the total tuition.

Benilde-St. Margaret's is pleased to offer a 10% discount on tuition for students whose parents are employed by schools, parishes, and other institutions of the Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis. Tuition Assistance is aid that is awarded annually, based on demonstrated financial need.  BSM uses TADS to determine a family’s tuition needs.

BSM typically supports 15-20% of the student body with financial assistance.

Tuition at BSM is billed annually, semi-annually, or on a 10-month basis (if paying with this option, payments must be in the form of an electronic funds transfer). The registration fee is due upon course registration, as is the enrollment contract. We do not have an application or book fee.

• Annual Payment - July 1
• Semi-Annual - July 1, December 1
• Monthly ACH - Monthly automatic payments begin in July and end in April, on the 5th or 20th of the month

We believe that providing a wide range of high caliber co-curricular opportunities in athletics and activities is an important aspect of the premier educational experience at BSM. Over the past several years, the cost of providing these co-curriculars has continued to steadily– and significantly– increase.

Additionally, a review of peer Catholic schools in the area confirmed this to be a common practice. The addition of these fees will allow us to continue providing first-in-class co-curricular opportunities in a way that is fiscally responsible for the school.
