Djuana J. Banks
Djuana J. Banks served on BSM’s strategic enrollment committee for two years before joining the board in 2021. She is involved in BSM’s parent association, parent affinity group, and is an avid supporter of BSM’s speech and mock trial teams. A principal regulatory affairs specialist at Medtronic, Djuana graduated from Tuskegee University with a B.S. degree in Biology and has a master’s degree in Regulatory Affairs from San Diego State University. Djuana previously served on the Board of Directors for Jack and Jill of America and is a past Minneapolis chapter President. She and her husband Shawn live in Brooklyn Park and have three children Brandon ‘16, Breah ‘20, and Brian ‘23. They are members at Fellowship Missionary Baptist Church.
Leslie Cadle served on BSM’s Advancement Committee for five years before she joined the board in 2021. A parent of two Red Knights, Jonathan ‘15 and Andrew ’18, she has organized many schoolwide volunteer efforts through her service as a parent association board member, BSM Parent Ambassador, Treasure Hunt category leader, and booster club member. She is a Certified Financial Practitioner (CFP) and has been a private wealth adviser for more than 33 years. Leslie is an ‘86 graduate of the College of St. Benedict. She and her husband John are members of St. Hubert Catholic Community in Chanhassen where Leslie spent 10 years on the parish finance committee and also served as a parish trustee.
Brother Chris Englert, FSC
Brother Chris Englert, FSC, attended Lasalle High School in Cincinnati before entering the Brothers in 1972. He received his undergraduate degree from CBU in 1977, a Master of Arts from La Salle University in Philadelphia, and a Master of Arts in educational administration from the University of Missouri. Over the course of his teaching career, Brother Chris taught at La Salle High School in Cincinnati, Ohio; Newport Catholic High School, Kentucky; and Archbishop O’Hara High School in Kansas City, Missouri. Most recently he served as President of Christian Brothers High School in Memphis, Tenn., from 1990 to December 2018. He has also served on numerous boards and committees including CBU and Madonna Learning Center. Brother Chris will serve as Auxiliary Visitor for the Midwest District until June 30, 2023. He is also BSM’s Christian Brothers representative and is currently serving in his third year on the board.
In addition to serving on BSM’s board since 2016, Sheila has also served on the boards/committees of Our Lady of Grace, St. David’s Center, and Cristo Rey. She and her husband John live in Edina and have three children, Claire ‘18, Rachel ’18, and Maggie.
Maureen Grazzini '86
Maureen Grazzini (BSM ’86) has served on BSM’s board since 2018. She earned her degree from the University of St. Thomas and is an instructor at Foss Swim School. She and her husband Greg have two children, Claire ‘18 and Adam ‘15. Maureen previously served as Chair of the parent association.
Shane Huether is a chartered financial analyst with CarVal Investors. He holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. He and his wife Kristine are the parents of BSM alum Elizabeth ’15 and Elliot ’23. Shane is serving in his third year on the board.
Patrick Kocourek '85
Patrick Kocourek, CPA, serves on BSM’s strategic planning committee and joined the board in 2021. He graduated from Providence College and is the CFO at Zeman Construction where he has worked for over 20 years. He and his wife Teri have five children, Matthew ‘18, Anna ’20, Meghan ‘22, Erinn ‘24, Gretta ‘28. The Kocourek family are members at St. Hubert’s in Chanhassen, where Pat previously chaired the community finance committee.
Fr. James Liekhus '97
Fr. Jim Liekhus ’97 serves as the Archdiocesan Representative. He is the pastor of the three parishes in Richfield (St. Richard, St. Peter, and Assumption), as well as the Canonical Administrator of Blessed Trinity Catholic School in Richfield. Fr. Liekhus attended St. John Vianney Seminary and the St. Paul Seminary at the University of St. Thomas, and he was ordained in 2005. Fr. Liekhus has served on the board since 2018.
Sean Lumpkin '88
Sean Lumpkin was a member of BSM’s Strategic Enrollment Committee for five years before he joined the board in 2021. He graduated from the University of Minnesota and is an Account Executive at AbbVie. He and his wife Tracy have four children, Sanjay ‘12, Sierre ‘23, Xavier ’24, and Nathan.
Tom Lynch '85
Tom Lynch is general counsel and chief compliance officer for CHF Solutions, Inc. He holds a juris doctorate degree from Boston College Law School, a master’s degree in teaching from the University of St. Thomas, and a bachelor’s degree in history from Stanford University. Tom and his wife Anastasia ’85, have four children, Sean ‘17, Frankie ’20, T.J. ’22, and future Red Knight Amelia. Tom has served on the board since 2018.
Nadia Martyn '05
Nadia Martyn ’05, a resident of Edina, is the VP, Deputy General Counsel, and Privacy Officer for Delta Dental of Minnesota. Nadia holds a B.A. in History from Boston College and a juris doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School. Nadia and her husband Joe ’05 are the parents of future Red Knights, George and Evelyn, and are members of Our Lady of Grace parish in Edina. Nadia has served on the Board since 2018.
Jason Matz is the Chief Investment Officer for GHR Foundation, an organization that improves lives by working toward a just, peaceful and healthy future. Jason and his wife Stephanie have two children who attend BSM, Jasper ‘20 and Beckett ‘22. Jason chairs BSM’s investment committee and has served on the board since 2017.
Fran McCloskey, Treasurer
Fran McCloskey is the founding shareholder of Financial Advisors LLC. Fran and her husband Mike have two children, Anna ’14 and Logan ‘19. She is the Treasurer of the board and chairs BSM’s finance committee. She has served on the board since 2016.
Biz McShane Murphy '96
Biz McShane Murphy ’96 is the Corporate Controller at Regis Corporation. Biz and her husband Francis are the parents of Eoin '27 and future Red Knight Erin. Biz chairs BSM’s nominating committee and has served on the board since 2016. Prior to joining the board, she was a member of the technology committee. Biz holds a bachelor's degree in business administration from the University of Notre Dame. The Murphys are parishioners of Our Lady of Grace.
Joan Mitchell, CSJ
Sister Joan Mitchell, CSJ is a publisher of Good Ground Press. Sr. Joan is the CSJ representative and has served on the board since 2012.
Laura Portz, Chair
Laura Portz has an MBA from the Carlson School of Management and has more than 20 years of experience leading Compensation and Global Mobility in large multinational organizations including General Mills and Carlson Companies. Laura and her husband Tom have two children Nick ‘20 and Sarah ‘22. Laura is the chair of the board and has served on the board since 2018.
Ann Ruff '73
Ann Ruff retired as the Executive VP of Resource and Development at CommonBond Communities, the Midwest’s largest nonprofit provider of affordable housing services. Ann is married to John Cooper. She has served on the board since 2017.
Mark Sanderson is the managing program director at Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, leading strategy and planning for the organization’s Environment and Disaster Relief & Recovery domains. Mark and his wife Katy are the parents of Christian ’18 and Mia ’21. Mark is serving his second year on the board.
Perry Schmidt is the Principal of SitelogIQ-Midwest division. His role includes directing and leading SitelogIQ’s knowledgeable and experienced team to develop, fund, and implement Master Facility Management Plans for K-12 districts on facility issues. Perry and his wife Anne are the parents of four Red Knights, Megan '09, Ellen '11, Emily '15, and Michael '19. He has served on the board since 2020.
Charles Scott is a regional business manager at Covalon Technologies, LTD. He holds a degree from Tennessee State University. Charles and his wife Phillippa are the parents of two daughters; their youngest daughter is a current BSM student, Shelby ’22. He has served on the board since 2019.
John Theisen '06
John Theisen is a senior manager in the Advisory Practice at Ernst and Young, LLP (EY). John holds a B.A. in Accounting from the University of St. Thomas (MN). He and his wife Emily have three daughters, Audrey, Rose and Lucy. John has served on the board since 2018.
Jim Vogl, Past Chair
Jim Vogl is the Vice President/General Manager of Patient Services - CRHF, at Medtronic. He and his wife Kate are the parents of Jen ’12 and Julia ’14. Jim is former board chair and has served on the board since 2014.
John Vonhof '86, Secretary
John Vonhof ’86 is the senior manager in risk practice at Intapp, a software company serving the professionals services market. John and his wife, Laura have a daughter, Marina who attends Annunciation. John is the Secretary of the board and has served on the board since 2017.
