Nightingale places second at state in diving

Senior Casey Nightingale finished as a state runner-up in diving at the Class A State Swimming & Diving Meet, held at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center, November 17-19. During the season, Casey set new school records for both six-dive and 11-dive meets and qualified as an All-American.
Also competing as a state diver was junior Rachel Thorstenson, who placed 14th.
Nine swimmers competed in the following events: 50-yard Freestyle (junior Catherine Cole—10th place, with new school record of 24.75), 100-yard Freestyle (junior Emily Egge—9th place and Catherine Cole—10th place), 200-yard Freestyle (Emily Egge—7th place and junior Amanda Semler—8th place), 500-yard Freestyle (Amanda Semler—7th place and 7th grader Madison Semler—17th place), 200-yard Freestyle Relay (Catherine Cole, Emily Egge, Amanda Semler and sophomore Megan Pohle—6th place, with a new school record of 1:39.28), 400-yard Freestyle Relay (Catherine Cole, Emily Egge, Amanda Semler, and 8th grader Tru Walor—team disqualified), 100-yard Backstroke (juniors Madison Winston—17th place and Amanda Dingman—19th place), and 200-yard Medley Relay (Madison Winston, Megan Pohle, Tru Walor and 7th grader Claire Torgerson—13th place).
