Great Hockey Game and a Red Knights Win

Entertainment was high on Friday, December 11 at the St. Louis Park Rec Center as Class 2A rivals, the Eden Prairie Eagles and the Benilde-St. Margaret's Red Knights met in a regular season game.  At the start of the game the Class 2A Coaches Poll listed Eagles (4-0-0) as number one, with the Red Knights (6-0-0) number two.

BSM got the first goal of the game -- Auggie Moore from Zach Risteau.  That lead held through the first period.  Second period start off in a frenzy as Nick Austin sends a slap shot past the Eden Prairie goalie and 52 seconds later Jacob Holmers follows suit.  Red Knights up 3-0.   Eagles Michael Graham gets their first goal of the game.  3-1 with 14:39 left in the second period.  Eagles complete the comeback with two goals by Nolan Sullivan and the second period ends in a 3-3 tie.

Third period continues with scoring from BSM's Cade Gleekel, EP's Hunter Johannes, EP's Nolan Sullivan (hat trick) and BSM's Auggie Moore and a 5-5 tie at the end of regulation.   Overtime ended at 1:17 in to it when Zach Risteau's rocket found the net.  Red Knights 6, Eagles 5.

The teams will meet again at the Eden Prairie Community Center on Saturday, February 6th at 7:00 p.m.
