Girls' Swim/Dive - 4th @ Sections!

Led by Seniors Allie Lang, Gracey Scott, Katie Sohm, Madison Semler and Maria Satre, the Red Knights finished 4th at the Section 2A Swim finals.  The meet was held November 9th and 11th at St. Catherine’s University in St. Paul.  Madison (200/500 yard freestyle) and Maria (50/100 yard freestyle) each advanced to the MN State  meet November 16-18 at the University Aquatics Center at the University of Minnesota.  Diving is Wednesday followed by the Swim preliminaries Thursday and the finals on Friday beginning at noon each day.

Sophomores Ava Schieffert, Elle Dickey, and Malinda Beason will be joining Semler and Satre on the 200/400 yard freestyle relays at the State meet. Alternates include Gracey Scott, Katie Sohm, Morgan Williams, Abigail Gage, Abby Sohm and Amelia Backes.

Semler finished 1st in the individual 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:57.43, and she finished 2nd in the individual 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:17.83.  Both finishes qualified her for the State meet.

Satre finished 3rd in the individual 50 yard freestyle with a time of 24.76, and she finished 2nd in the individual 100 yard freestyle with a time of 54.13.  Both times qualified her to advance to the State meet.

The 200 yard freestyle relay team of Satre, Semler, Beason, and Schieffert swam to a 3rd place finish with a time of 1:40.69 only 0.27 seconds from first place.  The 400 yard freestyle relay finished 2nd with a time of 3:38.80 and was comprised of Semler, Schieffert, Dickey, and Satre.  Both relays advanced to State action.

Other notable individual contributors to a strong section team score were: Seniors Katie Sohm - 100 yard Breast stroke/16th place, Gracey Scott - 100 yard freestyle/14th, Allie Lang - 100 yard breast stroke/14th;  Juniors Morgan Williams - 100 yard backstroke/16th, Abigail Gage - 100 yard butterfly/16th, 100 yard backstroke/13th; Sophomores Malinda Beason – 200 yard individual medley/15th, 100 yard backstroke/8th, Elle Dickey – 200 yard individual medley/13th, 100 yard breast stroke/9th, Amelia Backes -  100 yard butterfly/14th, Abigail Sohm – 200 yard freestyle/6th, 500 yard freestyle/10th, Ava Schieffert – 50 yard freestyle/5th, 100 yard freestyle/4th; Freshman Laura Jennings – 100 yard butterfly/15th, 500 yard freestyle/9th; and 8th grader Clare Hennen finished 6th in the diving competition.  Also, the 200 yard Medley Relay team of Beason, Dickey, Backes, and Williams finished 4th.

Rounding out the section team and swimming with some season best times were Junior Lauren Beh – 100 yard freestyle, Sophomores Annie Valerius – 100 yard butterfly, Freshman Quinn Elsenbast – 200 yard individual medley, 100 yard breast stroke, and 8th graders Grace Ritten - 200 yard freestyle, 100 yard backstroke, Clare Lynch – 500 yard freestyle.

A special congratulations to the three additional seniors who have contributed in so many ways to the team over multiple seasons and completed their season at the JV championships October 29, Alma Godinez, Anna Latourelle, and Andrea Ochoa.
