This year, 104 Benilde-St. Margaret’s students received a President’s Volunteer Service Award on May 25. The President’s Volunteer Service Award is sponsored by President Obama and is intended to acknowledge service work that is having a significant impact in local communities. Senior high students who receive this award have completed a minimum of 100 community service hours in the past twelve months and junior high students have completed a minimum of 50 hours in the past 12 months. Students may accumulate hours by working at churches, schools, or other community locations. These 94 senior high and 10 junior high students have served a combined total of 14,376 service hours in the last 12 months alone.
