BSM to Perform at Spotlight Showcase

IMG_7420.JPGOnce again, BSM students will be performing on the State Theatre stage in the Spotlight Musical Theatre Showcase, June 12. The cast of this year’s spring musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, are being recognized this year by Spotlight Education in Overall Production: Honorable Mention and Overall Performance: Outstanding.

In addition to the honors given below, junior Carson Knoer was selected for the Triple Threat Top Ten. Carson had to apply and audition (3 part audition – sing, dance and act) in front of a panel of judges. It was then narrowed down to 36 and then 20 performers. The Showcase then selects the Top 10 for each night and these 20 finalists perform an additional number the night of.

Triple Threat: “From each night’s Top 10 Finalists, one Triple Threat Best Actress and one Triple Threat Best Actor will be announced each night of Showcase. The four honorees will receive a customized trip to New York City during the month of June to attend Broadway shows, meet with industry professionals and participate in acting, singing and dance classes. Airfare, accommodations, show tickets, class and workshop fees and 3-meals a day will be funded by Hennepin Theatre Trust.”

He will be competing with other talented high school kids for this exclusive trip to New York. This is the 4th straight year BSM has had a top ten finalist. Congratulations to the entire cast of The Drowsy Chaperone and good luck to you this coming week at the showcase! #BSMProud
