Tuesday, November 13, 2012 was Vocations Day here at BSM. Every two years, we set aside one day in our junior and senior theology classes to reflect on the call to priesthood and religious life. The Faith Formation department welcomed 9 priests, 3 seminarians, 4 brothers, 7 sisters and 1 lay oblate to visit with us, sharing their stories with our students in class, and answering questions. Included in this number were the following people:
- Father Kermit Holl, who is a member of the Crosier order and who served as our chaplain for many years,
- Father Troy Pryzbilla, the Vocation Director for the archdiocese,
- Benedictines from St. John’s Abbey,
- a Franciscan Brother of Peace,
- a Jesuit priest and seminarian,
- several Sisters of St. Joseph (the founding order of St. Margaret’s Academy), and
- Franciscans and priests from the archdiocese, among others.
During the day, we offered Eucharistic Adoration in our Chapel. Many parents and members of our BSM Community, as well as the visiting speakers, prayed throughout the day for our juniors and seniors – a prayer for discernment, that God may be included in all the decisions they are making at this time, that they might know peace of mind and of heart, so they can follow where God is leading them. This is a very important time for our juniors and seniors – a time to not only think about the present, but also to prepare for the future.
