BSM is offering camps in the following areas for Summer 2012:

Baseball

Dates: June 18 – 22
Time: 8:30 – 10:30 a.m. Ages: Students entering grades 9 – 10
Time: 1 – 3 p.m. Ages: Students entering grades 6 – 8
Cost: $90 early registration/$100 walk-in

The BSM’s varsity coaching staff provides camp instruction. Campers will receive a T-shirt.


Boys' Basketball

Dates: June 11 – 22, M – F
Time: 9 – 10:30 a.m. Ages: Students entering grades 3 – 6
Time: 10:45 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. Ages: Students entering grades 7 – 9
Cost: $100 early registration/$115 walk-in

All campers receive a basketball, individual evaluations, and T-shirts. (For those registering before May 20, your T-shirt will include your last name.) Head coach John Moore (’74) and the BSM coaching staff will conduct camp with assistance from college players and current/former varsity players. The first week of camp will emphasize individual skill development through station work. Week two will consist of individual and team competition.


Girls' Basketball

Dates: June 25 – 29, Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Ages: Students entering grades 5 – 9
Cost: $100 early registration/$115 walk-in

All campers receive a T-shirt and a basketball. Daily games and contests focus on offensive and defensive fundamentals. Head Coach Bob Lyons and the BSM coaching staff will run the camp with assistance from varsity players.

FunInSonLogo2.jpgFun in the Son (Christian Service)

Dates: July 23 – 26, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
Ages:  Students entering grades 6-10
Cost: $130 before July 15, or $145 after July 15

This service camp will explore the servant leadership style of Jesus through visual arts, theology classes and daily service trips. The camp is divided into a 6-8th grade track and Fun in the Son II, a more intensive service camp for grades 9-10. The two camps work cooperatively, but most activities keep camps independent from each other. The final afternoon offers a closing prayer service.  Read more >>


Drama Camp

Dates: June 18 – 22, Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Ages: Students entering grades 3 - 7
Cost: $90 early registration/$100 walk-in

Explore your inner actor! Students attending BSM’s Drama Camp will explore a variety of theater-related activities, including pantomime, vocal performance, auditioning skills, movement/ choreography, and stage makeup. All participants will receive a T-shirt and instruction from current theater department staff as well as recent theater department graduates. A performance showcasing
skills learned will be held on the final day of camp.

Football

Dates: June 11 – 15, Time: 8 – 10 a.m.
Ages: Students entering grades 7 – 9
Cost: $85 early registration/$100 walk-in

The BSM football camp will provide a non-contact learning environment focusing on skills, techniques and teamwork. The emphasis will be on fundamentals. All campers will receive a T-shirt, and awards are given daily.


Boys' Hockey

Bantam Group (7th and 8th Grade)
Dates: June 12–14, June 19–21, June 26–June 28 (Week of July 4th off), July 10–12, July 17–19
Time Schedule: Tues & Thurs 8:30 - 9:45 a.m. – On-Ice Skill Training, Concepts and Small Games;
10:00 - 11:00 a.m. - Dryland/Classroom
Mon & Wed 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. – Scrimmage/Small Game Day
Cost: $525 (10% discount for more than one player per family)

High School I (9th and 10th Grade)
Dates: June 11–14, June 18–21, June 25–June 28 (Week of July 4th off),
July 9–12, July 16–19, July 23–25
Time Schedule: Mon & Wed 9:45 - 11:00 a.m. – Scrimmage Day
Tues & Thurs (Group is divided into two sessions on these days)
Group 1A: 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. On-Ice Skill Training, Concepts and Games
11:15 - 12:15 p.m. Dryland/Classroom
Group 1B: 11:15 a.m. - 12:15 p.m. On-Ice Skill Training, Concepts and Games
12:30 - 1:30 p.m. Dryland/classroom
Cost: $585 (10% discount for more than one player per family)

High School II (11th and 12th Grade — and returning players)
Dates: June 11–14, June 18–21, June 25–June 28 (Week of July 4th off),
July 9–12, July 16–19, July 23–25
Time Schedule: Mon & Wed 11:15 - 12:30 p.m. – Skill Day and Small Area Games
Tues & Thurs 12:30 - 1:45 p.m. – Scrimmage Day
2:00 - 3:00 p.m. – Dryland/Classroom

Camp instructors will be head coach Ken Pauly and members of BSM’s coaching staff. This year’s summer instructors will include current professional players and Red Knight alum Troy Riddle. Guest instructors will include Jack Blatherwick (Washington Capitals) and Andrew Alberts (Vancouver Canucks). Former Red Knight and collegiate players will serve as on- and off-ice assistants.

All training activity takes place at St. Louis Park Recreation Center.

Summer Strings Camp (Orchestra)

Ages: Students entering grades 4 - 7
Cost: $90 before May 31/$100 after May 31

Level 1: Beginners
Level 2: Students with 1-2 years experience
Level 3: Students with 3 or more years playing experience

Summer Strings will explore the joy of music making through:
• Live chamber music performance by the faculty and staff
• Fun note reading and rhythm drill sessions
• Daily group lessons and sectional rehearsals
• Daily string orchestra with final day performance at 11:30 a.m.

Summer Strings fee includes:
All camp activities, Summer Strings Camp T-shirt, in-camp chamber music demo by faculty, highly qualified faculty with assistance from current BSM string students and recent grads.

Summer Strings notes:
• Students are expected to have an instrument on the first day.

Science

Dates: July 30 – August 2
Ages: Students entering grades 4 – 7
Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Cost: $90 early registration/$100 walk-in

This summer explore the world of science with a fun, hands-on camp that explains how YOUR world works. You’ll have stars in your eyes as we learn about astronomy and have the chance to view our nearest star through special solar telescopes. Learn how the Ancient Romans got water to where it wasn’t from where it was and race with other campers to construct your own water way! Find out if your engineering designs are all they’re “cracked-up” to be when you drop an egg from a couple stories up. And, maybe, just maybe, Mr. Hickman won’t be the only fossil you spend time with during camp…As an added bonus, if the weather cooperates, we’ll offer an optional evening session of astronomical viewing at the end of the week for the whole family so you can tell your parents and siblings “what’s up”! Boys' Soccer

Dates: June 25 – 28, Time: 8:30 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Ages: Students entering grades 6 – 9
Cost: $100 early registration/$115 walk-in

Head coach Dave Platt and the BSM coaching staff will run the camp with the assistance of several varsity players. Campers will receive instruction in individual skill development, offensive/defensive tactics, large- and small-game strategies, as well as individual training for goalkeepers. Girls' Soccer

Dates: June 18 – 21, Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Ages: Students entering grades 6 – 8
Cost: $90 early registration/$100 walk-in

Head coach Scott Helling-Christy will direct this comprehensive soccer camp run by girls’ assistant and goalkeeper coach Anne Erickson and coach Steve Vuolo. Current and former high school varsity soccer players will help campers develop in the technical and tactical aspects of the game. All campers will receive a skills booklet, a program yearbook and camp gear. Individual, specific goalkeeper training will also be provided.

Softball

Dates: July 9 - 12, Times: 9:30 a.m. – Noon
Ages: Students entering grades 5 – 8
Cost: $90 early registration/$100 walk-in

The BSM coaching staff and current and former varsity players will instruct campers on the finer points of fast-pitch softball, including catching, throwing, bunting, hitting, base running, pitching, postioning, fielding responsibilities and the overall sport dynamics. Campers will receive a camp T-shirt.


Tennis: Co-ed

Session I June 11 – 14
Session II June 18 – 21,
Session III June 25 – June 28

Time: 4:15 – 6 p.m. Ages: Students entering grades 6 – 9
Time: 6 – 7:45 p.m. Ages: Students entering grades 10 – 12
Location: Aquila Park
Cost: $80 early registration/$100 walk-in (per session)
$200 early registration/$240 walk-in (all 3 sessions)

BSM tennis coaches will run the camp with the assistance of varsity/current college players. Campers will receive instruction in stroke development, serving and returning, volleys and specialty shots, along with concentration on positioning and match tactics. Each camper will receive a T-shirt.

Volleyball

Dates: July 16 – 19, Time: 1 – 3:30 p.m.
Ages: Students entering grades 3 – 8
Cost: $85 early registration/$100 walk-in

The BSM coaching staff will provide all camp instruction. Campers will receive a T-shirt.


Wrestling

Dates: July 16 – 20
Time: 9 a.m. – Noon
Ages: Students entering grades 3 – 8
Cost: $90 early registration/$100 walk-in
The BSM coaching staff, as well as former and current varsity wrestlers, will instruct campers in a fun and rigorous environment. Athletes will receive instructions on techniques, conditioning, weight training, nutrition and the mental aspects of wrestling. An emphasis on individual instruction and one-on-one learning make this a great camp for experienced or novas wrestlers.
