FIRST Lego League

"The best way to summarize FIRST LEGO League is to say that it is a robotics program for 9 to 14 year olds, which is designed to get children excited about science and technology -- and teach them valuable employment and life skills. FLL can be used in a classroom setting but is not solely designed for this purpose. Teams, composed of up to ten students with at least one adult coach, can also be associated with a pre-existing club or organization, homeschooled, or just be a group of friends who wish to do something awesome."
                                                                     - excerpt from First Lego League "Our Mission"

Here at Benilde-St. Margaret's our goal is to provide the opportunity for students in our Junior High to participate in this program as an extra curricular activity. While the adult coaches serve as mentors and encouragers to the students, FLL is a student driven activity. The students design the robot, the students build the robot and the students program the robot. Each year they are also responsible for putting together a research project that the team presents to a panel of judges during a tournement typically held on a Saturday in late November or December.

Reminder that each team can have up to 10 students, so make sure you talk to your friends about working on an FLL team together! Our first meeting for all interested students will be held within the first couple weeks of this coming school year.  We are also looking for parents to help coach additional teams, so be sure to talk to them, too!
