Guidance/College & Career - Summer School Options/Credit Make-up

Following is the summer school policy of Benilde-St. Margaret’s School. If, after having reviewed the policy, you have further questions, please contact a guidance counselor.

Credits earned during a summer school experience will not be placed on a student’s transcript. The exceptions to this rule are as follows:

  • BSM approved summer enrichment courses - The only approved summer enrichment courses are: Concordia language camps, the BSM summer science program and BSM summer travel experiences.
  • Summer courses taken to make up a failing grade – Students who have failed a course must work with their counselor and the department chair on a course recovery plan. Failing grades remain on the BSM transcript and are calculated into the student’s GPA. Students will receive a "Pass" or "P" on their transcript for a course they have made-up and the recovered credit will be counted toward the student’s graduation requirements.

Students will not be allowed to take summer school courses in order to skip a level of study in the BSM curriculum.
