ACS Facilities

The Advanced Competitive Science program prepares students for the collegiate and corporate environment: our facilities are modeled with this in mind.

The ACS labs consist of independently networked PCs.  Each PC is equipped with a dual-monitor display as well as SolidWorks and National Instruments LabVIEW EE for robot development.

3D Printer
Students in ACS have access to a Stratasys Dimension 1200es BST 3D Printer (a professional rapid-prototyping tool).  Engineering II/III students design custom parts on Solidworks and use the 3D printer to generate prototypes out of ABS plastic.

Engineering II/III students also have access to a Trotec Speedy 300 Laser Cutter. As with the 3D printer, the students utilize the laser printer to fabricate custom parts for their robots.

Test Fields
ACS focuses on search and rescue robots. Small form factor test structures support student design explorations at a handheld scale. Worthy designs are then pushed to full scale for development and testing.
